I feel stupid. Yes, the mkv is playable with VLC after all. Not sure why Windows media player doesn't like it.

I am using VLC to playback the files. I was also unable to successfully save the video from the disc through VLC. The progress bar at the bottom would just run infinitely. I am running the firmware that came installed via the manufacturer. I have not flashed anything myself. Is this model able to be?

VLC works fine for playback, however, my issue is with creating an .mkv file from the discs within MakeMKV

So I just started using makemkv with a Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD drive (manufactured June 23, running latest firmware) and I've had no success ripping any of my DVD's or Blu-Rays.
