Re: makemkvcon broken...at least on my system
The instructions say to install the source before the executable binaries. Maybe you did it in the wrong order. You said you installed the binaries first. Perhaps there are dependencies in the binaries that require the source to be installed first. If you later re-installed some of the source, as i...

Re: Why won't it see my drive?
Well, here I am up to version 1.7.1, and I still can't get it to decrypt any Blu-Ray I put in my drive. Once again, here is the output of "I Am Legend": ---BEGIN TEXT--- MakeMKV v1.7.1 linux(x64-release) started Using direct disc access mode Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECT...

Re: Why won't it see my drive?
Definitely a hardware drive, the LG GGW-H20L, to be exact.
Here is the output from dmesg:
ata4.00: ATAPI: HL-DT-ST BD-RE GGW-H20L, YL07, max UDMA/133

Re: Why won't it see my drive?
New development, but still not quite there I made some big changes to my system by finally enabling UDEV, which was a bit tricky until I figured out to disable "CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED" and "CONFIG_IDE." MakeMKV now sees my Blu-Ray drive right away, but it still fails. Here is t...

Re: Why won't it see my drive?
I have to say that I've just about lost all patience with this issue. :? First, I mounted the Blu-Ray disk I had in my drive, whose device name is /dev/sr0, on /mnt/dvd. I then executed the following from the command line: makemkvcon info file:/mnt/dvd MakeMKV v1.6.16 linux(x64-release) started Open...

Re: makemkvcon broken...at least on my system
Well, I do not think that you can skip either OSS or BIN packages since you need both of them. Anyway, since installing both of them still didn’t make it work for you, I would recommend you update your distribution. I am sure that would sort out the issue. The distro has nothing to do with it. And,...

Re: Why won't it see my drive?
Something is holding your drive. To send scsi commands, MakemKV needs R/W access, but "open" fails. There must be some other application that holds the drive. Aslso, MakeMKV has a builtin UDF 2.5 filesystem parser, so it obivously doesn't need one. Okay, understood. Now, I have no idea wh...

Apologies for missing the thread. What is the output of the cmd below? Are you a member of "cdrom" group? cat /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info CD-ROM information, Id: cdrom.c 3.20 2003/12/17 drive name: sr0 hda drive speed: 40 48 drive # of slots: 1 1 Can close tray: 1 1 Can open tray: 1 1 Can lo...

Yeah, I sort of figured as much.crowfax wrote:You'll need to wait for the developer to reply, I have no idea why you BR drive can't be seen. I don't have any problems getting any of mine to open.
Thanks for the information.

Why won't it see my drive?
Well, I tried to use MakeMKV, but I can only use it for disks in my regular DVD drive (/dev/hda), isolating me exclusively to ripping conventional DVD disks. Meanwhile, my Blu-Ray drive (/dev/sr0) is not recognized at all, even though I have access to it with various other programs, such as Xine, MP...

Re: makemkvcon broken...at least on my system
Ahah! I just figured out what the problem was. I had an outdated libmakemkv.so.1 and libdriveio.so.0 sitting in my /usr/lib directory. Once I deleted those, the new versions of those libraries I built and directed to be installed in /usr/lib64 worked, and I can now get makemkv to run. It works just ...

Re: makemkvcon broken...at least on my system
Well, mine is a bit of a Frankenstein's monster system. It started out as a 32-bit Slackware v.8 system, then I switched my libraries and most of my binaries over to 64-bit using Slackware-64 v.11 when I replaced the CPU and motherboard with an Intel Core2 Duo Quad 9550. I have also built about half...
