do i just drop the new version into the application folder of my mac so that it replaces the old one?

or do i have to go and remove all the bits from various folders, restart and then install the new version?

The AppleTV2 is an iPhone in a box it doesn't and never will have the capability to output 1080p display signal until the hardware is updated. I don't notice any difference between 1080p and 720p movies but just up the bitrate to compensate at 720p, try in Handbrake under the video tab setting RF=1...

What version of Handbrake? Version 0.95 for Windows works with MKVs created from BDs, other than not acknowledging the BD-type subtitles. i'm on a mac using the newest version of makemkv.... i do have a old windows pc i can try and run handbrake on... i should mention that have have been successful...
