The video follows this guide though. i'm pretty sure the is a way to revive it but the time for me to figure it out, it's actually cheaper to buy a new one. the guide no where says to flash BU40N to your asus you said you followed the video and did that my guide clearly says asus on any fw directly...

In the tool there is a check box I believe it says include bootloader check that box and select the WH16NS60 fw and flash that I had tried that already. It's now dtetected as BD-RE__WH16NS60_1.02 but still won't reaad anything. yeah it dead then please only follow the guide not random youtube video...

What is wrting a bootloader ? I googled it but what are we trying to do ? btw the drive is not working on any computer. Thanks ! Yes it's not working. Drive seems to be flashed correctly but i can't read anything. Will look for other solutions on the forum today. Hello, I had flashed my BW-16D1X-U (external Asus Drive) to a bu40n in order to rip BlueRays but it wouldn't work for some reason : Actually the drive wouldn't even eject :? Who told you to do that?
