If your connecting to a motherboard directly SATA to sata any SATA cable will do.

If your going to USB I would recommend the vantec dx2.

Thanks for the info! Just wondering, is the LG WH16NS40 compatible with this enclosure?

Verify Drive Platform?

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a UHD friendly Blu-ray drive and I want to make sure it has the right drive platform before making the purchase. How can I verify if the drive has the correct drive platform?

Thank you for your help!

Special SATA Cable Needed?

Hi everyone,

I'm about to purchase a UHD friendly Blu-ray drive and I'm wondering about the SATA cable adapter. Do I need a special SATA cable adapter mentioned in the Ultimate Guide, or is a regular one sufficient?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Doubt about WH16NS40

Hi, I have a doubt about a UHD friendly drive, specifically a WH16NS40, that I want to buy from eBay. I think it's compatible for flashing, but I'd rather be sure. Can someone tell me in a PM if the drive is compatible?

Thank you. :D

Re: Loss of quality uhd

MakeMKV copies the video data from the UHD directly. What you get is what is on the disk. What you do afterwards may change quality, but the MKV generated by MakeMKV will have the exact video present on the disk. There are audio options that can change things, but "stock" MakeMKV will cop...

Loss of quality uhd

Hi, noob here.
When you rip a 4K Blu-ray using MakeMKV with a flashed uhd friendly drive and play it on a 4K device, will it truly be the original 4K quality from the UHD Blu-ray? Is there any loss of quality ?
Thank you for your time. :D
