Re: Forced subtitles
But even if I did that, and found out that there are forced subtitles, I wouldn't be sure of the exact order of the subtitle tracks in the MakeMKV screen, and therefore which one to select/deselect. It's always the same order in all apps and on the disc and so you know which ones to (de)select! I a...

Re: Forced subtitles
Okay, got it. Thanks! Why do you use subtitle edit? For example, do you convert your subtitles to another format? I understand all 4k Ultra HD Blu-rays have HDMV PGS subtitles. If so, then all my subtitles will be HDMV PSG format. Do you see any reason to convert them to another format and/or edit ...

Re: Forced subtitles
For mkv's that have a forced subtitle track, are the forced subs also included in the main sub track every time? Yes. That Yes should be a No. I *think* it was John Wick where the forced subs had the language translated but the non-forced didn't. I don't remember if it didn't print anything at thos...

Re: Forced subtitles
And what's stopping you from doing that BEFORE you rip the movie, so you can deselect unwanted subtitle tracks, not even ripping them with MakeMKV? And how do you know before ripping the disc? MakeMKV doesn't know which ones there are By playing back the disc before ripping it and cycling through t...

Re: Forced subtitles
For discs with a forced sub track, is there any way to "embed" the forced sub track in the mkv like the others? Yes, but with HandBrake, for example. And I don't know if it would be worth it for you because HandBrake compresses files. As I mentioned, some discs have the main subs with and...

Re: Forced subtitles
Instead, to find out which are the forced subs, I'll tell you how I do it. Let's say the .mkv file contains 3 subs. I usually use VLC, I check them by activating them one at a time. If the sub is the main one, I notice it right away because the subtitles appear on the video for each actor's speech....

Re: About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus
I find sitting through the forced previews, the interpol & FBI warning, and dealing with silly disc menu systems to be more than enough reason to not ever watch from physical media. I buy plenty of physical media, but I rip it and watch via Plex across the network. Well, everyone has a differen...

Re: I have a BD-RE BU40N., compatible with Linux-Mint?
I don't understand what the problem could be. I've been a Linux user for 16 years, and in that time I've connected both internal and external burners, and they've always been recognized. It would seem strange to me that a burner wouldn't work with Linux. Unless you're using a stone-age kernel, there...

... but can a Fire Stick or something similar read decrypted Blu-ray folders on HDD? Or ISO files? I don't think so. No*? It can if you put Kodi on it and use your network. I hope you're not cavemaning it with USB. If so, you should change that first. Yes, I only use USB. I don't need a network, ex...

Re: About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus
You're older devices probably stutter/crash because they don't have a hardware H.265 decoder. No, that's not the problem, the MKVs are all h.264. It could be the USB problem instead, both devices have a 2.0 port, I think that with a USB 3.0 or higher perhaps the lag would decrease or stop altogethe...

Re: About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus
Hi, thanks for replying. You recommended using two devices, but I'd like just one. I have an older Android box, the Beelink MiniMXIII-II, which I use for streaming, and an Asus O!Play Mini as my media player. Both still work fine, but I'm having trouble playing Blu-rays (standard, not UHD) in 1:1 MK...

About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus
Hi everyone.
I'd like to purchase the Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus to watch my Blu-rays and DVDs ripped with MakeMKV (mkv, iso, and folders) and also for video streaming (Amazon Prime Video, YouTube). Does anyone have one? Does it work well? Thanks.

Re: Forced subtitles
Most Blu-rays have a separate track for the forced subtitles and don't use the forced flags. But some have both, a separate track and the forced flags in the full subtitle track, which results in two (nearly) identical subtitle tracks in the output file. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, ...
