Re: Unsure which method to store/play ripped DVD's and Blu-rays
I'm not sure because I've never used it, but it seems to me that MakeMKV can rip DVDs by creating the ISO. But wait for more authoritative answers than me. On Linux (Ubuntu distro) as mentioned I used special programs, I think they also exist on MacOS. First of all I installed libdvdcss, then dvdbac...

Re: Unsure which method to store/play ripped DVD's and Blu-rays
Hi. I don't know which one is best for you, but I can tell you how I did it. I have a DVD/BD collection of more than 1000 titles, but Blurays only account for 10-20%. I backed up the DVDs that I care about most, while for the Blurays I backed up all the ones I have, this is because I realized that t...

[FEATURE REQUEST] Being able to save chapters of a movie
I don't know if it's already been asked, but I would like MakeMKV to give the possibility to copy the chapters of a movie that one wants, above all to exclude at least the final ones. Let me explain: yesterday I was copying The Island, a 2005 movie. Well, when I got a few seconds from the end MakeMK...

Self/Less (ITA 2015) correct playlist
The bluray in question has 260 fake playlists. Yesterday after a couple of attempts I managed to discover the correct playlist. Here is the information: Source file name: 00865.mpls Duration: 1:56:51 Chapters count: 12 Size: 33.1 GB Segment count: 15 Segment map: 101,111,110,108,112,113,114,107,115,...

Amore & altri rimedi (Love & Other Drugs)
Hi everyone. I have a problem with many mpls with the Bluray in question, there are 31! I made the decrypted backup on the SSD and I would like to know if there is a way to find out which one is the right one. I extracted the first two mpls to test and they are the same, same number of chapters, sam...

File dump_FW
Good morning everyone. I found a dump_FW_xxxxxx.tgz file in the ~/.makemkv directory and, not knowing what it was, I deleted it. Then later by starting MakeMKV I saw that it is the program that creates this file and invites me to send it to support@makemkv.com. What is this file? And why do I have t...

Re: Bluray ripping beginner
I understand. Sorry, I would like to ask you something else: since, as you know, I would like to buy the Pioneer BD-R 212v, I had the doubt that since it has a Vinpower Digital firmware it could give recognition problems to Linux. What do you think about it? However, I wrote to Vinpower. Thank you.

Re: Bluray ripping beginner
Try this: # modinfo sg MakeMKV doesn't find any optical drives on my Linux machine unless the sg kernel module is loaded. I gave the command in the terminal but nothing appeared on the screen. However, the DVD burner I have makes MakeMKV. Why should it be different with the bluray one? I do not und...

Re: Bluray ripping beginner
I think everyone finds Pioneer drives to be far more reliable at ripping disks, and MakeMKV only needs LibreDrive for UHD disks. But having said that, should you ever want to change your mind in the future, you should also be aware that the window for acquiring LibreDrive-compatible Pioneers is clo...
