Re: Create an ISO of an UHD Bluray on Linux

Hi. I don't make .iso files of my ripped Blurays (I only have standard Blurays). I've only tried once, but I used imgbrun with Wine, and it worked fine. Then extract the entire unencrypted disk to a folder, then use imgburn. Read more here: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=387...

Re: Forced subtitles

Okay. Well thanks again for your help, I should be all set now. The only other thing I may do is try to turn a SDH sub track into a non-SDH sub track with subtitle edit. Basically, remove all text for the hearing impaired. Although, I want to see if this involves having to convert a PGS track to an...

If you end up getting the Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus player, or one that supports PGS subtitles, would you then have a reason to use subtitle edit?
No, no reason.

Re: Forced subtitles

But even if I did that, and found out that there are forced subtitles, I wouldn't be sure of the exact order of the subtitle tracks in the MakeMKV screen, and therefore which one to select/deselect. It's always the same order in all apps and on the disc and so you know which ones to (de)select! I a...

Re: Forced subtitles

Okay, got it. Thanks! Why do you use subtitle edit? For example, do you convert your subtitles to another format? I understand all 4k Ultra HD Blu-rays have HDMV PGS subtitles. If so, then all my subtitles will be HDMV PSG format. Do you see any reason to convert them to another format and/or edit ...

Re: Forced subtitles

For mkv's that have a forced subtitle track, are the forced subs also included in the main sub track every time? Yes. That Yes should be a No. I *think* it was John Wick where the forced subs had the language translated but the non-forced didn't. I don't remember if it didn't print anything at thos...

Re: Forced subtitles

And what's stopping you from doing that BEFORE you rip the movie, so you can deselect unwanted subtitle tracks, not even ripping them with MakeMKV? And how do you know before ripping the disc? MakeMKV doesn't know which ones there are By playing back the disc before ripping it and cycling through t...

Re: Forced subtitles

For discs with a forced sub track, is there any way to "embed" the forced sub track in the mkv like the others? Yes, but with HandBrake, for example. And I don't know if it would be worth it for you because HandBrake compresses files. As I mentioned, some discs have the main subs with and...

Re: Forced subtitles

Instead, to find out which are the forced subs, I'll tell you how I do it. Let's say the .mkv file contains 3 subs. I usually use VLC, I check them by activating them one at a time. If the sub is the main one, I notice it right away because the subtitles appear on the video for each actor's speech....

Re: About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus

I find sitting through the forced previews, the interpol & FBI warning, and dealing with silly disc menu systems to be more than enough reason to not ever watch from physical media. I buy plenty of physical media, but I rip it and watch via Plex across the network. Well, everyone has a differen...

Re: I have a BD-RE BU40N., compatible with Linux-Mint?

I don't understand what the problem could be. I've been a Linux user for 16 years, and in that time I've connected both internal and external burners, and they've always been recognized. It would seem strange to me that a burner wouldn't work with Linux. Unless you're using a stone-age kernel, there...
