Re: About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus
That Xiaomi box is one I'm keeping an eye on. On Amazon.it (I'm Italian), it currently costs around €66, so it's within my budget. But, as I said, there's a lot of good and bad reviews online, so I haven't made up my mind yet. Maybe I'll order it anyway; if I don't like it, I can always return it. R...

Re: About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus
UPDATE: There's now multiple boxes that support VVC/h266... I didn't know :-/ TLDR; I'd wait :-/. Rockchip is apparently working on a SoC that utilizes a hardware decoder for VVC/H266 and Intel has added it to QuickSync, this means that the next generation of devices *should* be coming soon... *sho...

Re: Is a DVD drive worth it in additional to a BD drive?
That's exactly what I do. To preserve my Pioneer Blu-ray burner, when I rip DVDs I use an internal LG SATA DVD burner (recovered from my old PC) that I connect with a USB-SATA adapter (the same one I use for the Blu-ray burner when I connect it to my PC). I recommend an LG brand.

Re: About Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus
Happy New Year everyone. I'm updating this thread to say that last August I retired my old Beelink MiniMXIII-II Android box and replaced it with a Fire TV Stick, which I use to watch Prime Video and YouTube. I then stopped buying the Dune HD because I decided the Asus O!Play Mini was enough for me. ...

Re: Forced subtitles
Thanks again for the feedback DukeFleed. One last question, if I want to only change the name of an audio/subtitle track for a mkv file using mkvtoolnix, do I still have to choose multiplex? Always. That's not true. You can edit the Metadata of any track without remuxing. Oh, I didn't know. I alway...

Re: Am I processing my rips correctly?
2) Once I’ve identified the files I wish to keep, and rename them accordingly, I then process them via HandBrake (cropping as necessary), using the Matroska H.265 MKV 1080p30 preset, to compress the Video track only (I remove the audio/subtitles). As my preference is to have a compressed (but near-...

Subtitle Tracks For example, I was thinking of naming the subtitle track for the main feature " Main Feature (SDH) " or " Main Feature ". I'm not sure how else you can name a forced subtitle track other than " Forced ". When selecting a subtitle track in VLC, " - ...

Re: Create an ISO of an UHD Bluray on Linux
Hi. I don't make .iso files of my ripped Blurays (I only have standard Blurays). I've only tried once, but I used imgbrun with Wine, and it worked fine. Then extract the entire unencrypted disk to a folder, then use imgburn. Read more here: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=387...

Re: Forced subtitles
Okay. Well thanks again for your help, I should be all set now. The only other thing I may do is try to turn a SDH sub track into a non-SDH sub track with subtitle edit. Basically, remove all text for the hearing impaired. Although, I want to see if this involves having to convert a PGS track to an...

No, no reason.leosantare wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 5:46 amIf you end up getting the Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus player, or one that supports PGS subtitles, would you then have a reason to use subtitle edit?

Re: Forced subtitles
But even if I did that, and found out that there are forced subtitles, I wouldn't be sure of the exact order of the subtitle tracks in the MakeMKV screen, and therefore which one to select/deselect. It's always the same order in all apps and on the disc and so you know which ones to (de)select! I a...

Re: Forced subtitles
Okay, got it. Thanks! Why do you use subtitle edit? For example, do you convert your subtitles to another format? I understand all 4k Ultra HD Blu-rays have HDMV PGS subtitles. If so, then all my subtitles will be HDMV PSG format. Do you see any reason to convert them to another format and/or edit ...
