Late reply, but the reason is that I'm using the console app (makemkvcon), not the GUI app.

Just updating with the (sort of) solution. Dcoke22 is correct that power cycling does the trick. However, if I remember correctly I dug into dmesg or something and found that the error was related to LibreDrive. Disabling LibreDrive via SDF_STOP="HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH16NS60_1.02_211810291936_KLJO3...

Definitely remains a useful and desired feature. I'm ripping Star Trek TNG, which consists of about 40 blu rays. Every episode is repeated in a title that contains multiple episodes, so it's doubling the rip time to grab the multi-episode files that I then have to delete.

I'm encountering this issue on Debian 12 with MakeMKV 1.17.7 and the WH16NS40 (flashed to WH16NS60 firmware). Occasionally after a rip, I can't eject the disk, and MakeMKV no longer recognizes the drive.

After a bit more research, fulling passing through a disc drive in Proxmox requires the drive to be on a PCIe SATA expansion card or via a USB port. I booted via an Ubuntu live USB so I could use the GUI version of MakeMKV on bare metal, which made it easier to realize that I needed to flash the dri...
