Disconnected my Mac from the internet and connected it to my phone's hotspot and it finally worked again.

It’s not disabled in the preferences

Just had a 16D1HT delivered on Friday that had a manufacture date of January 2017 and 3.00 firmware.

So while this method indeed works and produces amazing results, be very careful to follow the instructions closely. If unsure - just wait for more user-friendly tools to be released. There will be another announcement on this forum. Has there been any further word on this? I'd love to wait for this...
