Re: Feature Request: Selective Backup
I think we're talking about the .m2ts files here? The ones that failed hash checks or failed to save during the initial backup? Yeah sure, I'm with you on that. Currently if I do a cleaning I have to redo a full backup, and sometimes if I'm lucky I'll get other failed files and I can just keep the g...

Re: Will VLC play a makemkv backup folder?
A couple of caveats I will note here. Opening disc defaults to DVD so make sure Bluray is selected. Also there is a Starting Position title value to select. If it's a disc of a season of episodes, you manually have to select them individually VLC will only play one at a time. It's a bit of a shot in...

Re: Will VLC play a makemkv backup folder?
Thanks that works. Selecting the backup folder as the disc makes it work, the one thing I didn't try.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Will VLC play a makemkv backup folder?
Yes the disc can be played. But VLC can't seem to play from the backup folder?

Will VLC play a makemkv backup folder?
I've tried many things to try to get VLC to play from the backup folder. No joy. I'm using VLC 3.0.16 Has anyone been able to get VLC to play from the bluray backups? I can get MPC-BE x64 to play the index.bdmv no problem. What do others use? The only other option to use VLC is to run the backup in ...

Re: external hard drives- corruption - efat vs ntfs
FYI - Ok apparently for windows7 systems chkdsk reported errors incorrectly on drives larger than 2 Tb So there was a hotfix for it KB2843376 - which apparently is unavailable, but it seems to be reported as updated in to a security fix windows6.1-KB3063858-64.msu. So I'll give that a go and maybe t...

external hard drives- corruption - efat vs ntfs
So lets say you are archiving a lot of discs to an external drive. It might be wise, if you are using windows, to have the drive formatted to NTFS. My reason for that is, less possibility of corruption. I had a power outage and now my external drive ExFAT is now dirty because I was writing to it at ...

Re: Pledge on scratched blurays using makemkv
I'm trying another disc that is also proving to be problematic. I started at Failing to start -> 0.57% -> 0.29% -> failed (stopped before completed) -> 0.36% -> 1.75% -> 0.29% -> failed (stopped before completed) -> 0.72% This particular disc has more scratches than the others and it appears I can't...

Re: Pledge on scratched blurays using makemkv
Unfortunately I can't insert images on this forum and I don't have a url location to post so sorry. The first disc had minor scratches. The third one had a nice visible short scratch. The 3rd disc I was working on, I got it down to 21% then 20% but it also failed once before the 21%. I'm at the 10th...

Re: Pledge on scratched blurays using makemkv
What sort of errors? Failed to save errors?
If they're new discs then might not have anything to do with scratches.

Re: Pledge on scratched blurays using makemkv
Yes that would be it. I will add that if there are deep scratches it might not work well. The one I am testing on has a cm visible scratch that I can see some dirt in there with a magnifying glass but I've got it down to 0.20% corrupt. I will also stress to take your time easily cleaning making sure...

Re: m2ts files from backup not playing on vlc
It has external power, into a plug so I can't see how or why it would be underpowered. I also tried plugging both usb's on the usb cord in as well as plugged into the wall but it still stopped. In general it seems portable drives, whether plugged into a wall socket or not, are less powerful than the...

Re: Pledge on scratched blurays using makemkv
Yes, pledge is a furniture polish that leaves a waxy coat. It is the lemon enhancing polish that I am using. I am surprised it is working well for blurays - now I believe this works only for light scratches, I am not sure about heavy scratches or long term effects. The ingredients listed on the can ...

Pledge on scratched blurays using makemkv
I'm just going to report my findings using pledge to try to help make a backup of a scratched bluray. ** quick update - I am getting improved results using the lemon pledge furniture polish - long term effects of the polish on the bluray are still undetermined ** Here's what I did 1 - clean with mic...

Re: m2ts files from backup not playing on vlc
Thanks! I can't believe I missed that.
The other issue is the scratches are preventing the external bluray from doing a whole backup. The desktop drive can plow through.
