Ok. mkv was created I was looking in the wrong folder. But with the backup the m2ts files won't play in vlc. So I'm guessing they are encrypted. Strangely I've just loaded MakeMKV to another laptop using Windows 10 I just installed VLC but running makemkv backup on the external drive with a bluray just stops after it hit 12 read errors.
