I have been using a ASUS 16D1HT and a LG WH16NS40 with the Amazon version with zero success on The Abyss. However, I was able to rip both True Lies and Aliens on the first try with the Asus. Purchased mine from Wow HD... No visible sign of damage to 4k disc. Theatrical Version failed to rip on LG BU40N, but both versions ripped successfully on Pioneer BDR-S13.
