Most likely old stock. BD production in Japan has ceased and new stock comes from other countries like Taiwan. Verbatims from Japan MEI T02 50GB were also very good. The new Verbatims 50 GB from Taiwan are just bad.

The plastic lens info for 212DBK comes from seller asmcom. Pioneer Europe told him
I think all Pioneers for retail users for the last 10-15 years have plastic lenses. Otherwise it would be item #1 on the pioneer website to show the advantages of the S models. But it shows 2 copper screws on the ...

Re: Comparing Pioneer UHD Models
To my knowledge the difference between S12 and 212 is that the S12s are coming with software and the 212 are OEM models w/o software.
S also has a different design and really more attractive and has better noise & dust reduction
but all Pioneers made better that LG/ASUS (which look cheap on the ...

Where is the info about glass lenses in Pioneer drives coming from?

I have now 8 different Pioneers BDR 2xx Sxx Xxx (from 205 to X13).

Re: WH16NS40 Firmware for rip UHD
For the BC-12D2HT, I really couldn't say for sure which firmware is compatible with DVDFab, You could try BC-12D2HT 3.11-MK but it may not work as most (if not all) MK firmwares don't work with DVDFab. You could then maybe flash it to BC-12D2HT 3.00 firmware if you can find it. FYI, I do not ...
