Thank you @dcoke22, that helped me weed through this forum. For the benefit of others, I've ended up using the tool "SDFtool Flasher.exe" and flash the firmware file "DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin", which worked successfully. I'm now able to backup the UHDs I have using either MakeMKV ...
