Re: Pioneer BDR-212DBK vs BDR-212V

For those who have asked or may ask in the future here is the link for what I bought from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R89FN61?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 The most current firmware on the Vinpower Digital website is still v1.02 date 09/27/2022 so you should still be able to c...

Re: Blu-ray Drive Questions & Recommendations

This is my first Blu-ray burner so I've never burned a BD yet. It's been a year or two since I've burned and DVDs. I still burn an occasional audio CD or boot recovery CD but that's it. If you catch them on sale you can get enterprise level 16-20 TB HDDs for $260 USD or less. If you spin them up and...

Re: Blu-ray Drive Questions & Recommendations

I'm guessing if you want to burn BDXL you need to start off with a nnnUxx drive with a more powerful laser and accurate head mechanism.

The 212DBK and 212V do not natively support BDXL according to the spec sheets.

The Pioneer BDR-212V is a 212 drive with firmware by VinPower Digital and is optimized for disc duplication. At the moment the latest firmware version available on the VinPower Digital website is v1.02 with an internal date of June 21, 2022 and can be cross-flashed to support LibreDrive and UHD disc...

Re: Pioneer BDR-212DBK vs BDR-212V

Correction, March 2022 mfg date. Anyway, thanks to @Coopervid I was able to cross-flash the drive. Wanted to use the drive a bit to see if it was problem free. Probably be difficult to return it with a cross-flashed firmware.: Drive Information OS device name: \Device\CdRom0 Current profile: BD-ROM ...

Re: Pioneer BDR-212DBK vs BDR-212V

Thanks for the replies. Further research tells me that in DBK, D means the drive does not support DVD-RAM media and BK is for Black front piece color. I would guess there is also White and Grey/Putty colors available. V stands for VinPower, a manufacturer/seller of duplication towers and software. T...

Pioneer BDR-212DBK vs BDR-212V

Hi Everbody I'm interested in ripping Blu-ray 3D to view on my VR headset. Since I currently do not have a 4K UHD setup (other than my VHD) 4K is not a priority. Does anybody know what the difference is between the Pioneer BDR-212DBK and the BDR-212V? The specs look identical on the Pioneer website....
