I'm using Kubuntu 23.04 and MakeMKV 1.17.5 and I too don't see any integration, but looking in the gui's preferences can be a bit misleading. The documentation here: https://www.makemkv.com/libmmbd/ says:

The way this library works, it launches a MakeMKV instance in background and communicates ...

Even if you can't disable auto-updates at compile time why couldn't/wouldn't you just configure your package's default settings in such a way to disable auto-updates that way?

Seems like a library issue. See if libavcodec-dev is installed:

`dpkg -s libavcodec-dev`

If it isn't installed, install it:

`sudo apt-get install libavcodec-dev`

If it is installed go into your library folders:

`cd /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu`

and perform a `ls -al | grep libavcodec` make sure there ...

As with everyone else. Looking for a suggestion.
