Can somebody recommend AI upscaling program?
I have a lot of tv series with poor quality video (and audio). Can somebody recommend a program for upscaling these videos? My requirements would be: 1. Must work as a batch program, working on multiple mkv/mp4 /webm files without user interaction. 2. Preferrably, it should also upscale the audio, b...

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
Regarding the many brand names of dvd readers that pop up and vanish quickly, I have the impression the added value of these brands is limited to the design of the casing. Most of them are regular HL or TSST dvd readers/writers. Hitachi-LG Data Storage (HLDS, HL-DT-ST or H-L Data Storage), a joint v...

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
My videos are not so advanced that they require a uhd/4K reader. With the exceptional BluRay, most of my discs are plain old dvds. If there is no guarantee that a specific make/model/type dvd reader will work well with MakeMKV, my strategy is to go for maximum damage control, i.e. I spend just a sma...

Have you ever considered organizing a conference?
Just an idea, have you ever considered organizing a conference for registered users of MakeMKV? Personally, I would be interested in that and I also would be willing to travel for that. Apart from workshops on the use, technology and future of the product, I would be interested to get in contact wit...

Re: Unable to disable subtitles in Kodi
I'm sure it's a Kodi bug and that you're right that you'd probably be better off adding a empty subtitle track. Possibly "side-car" one on the filesystem with $filename.srt and see if it will load that first, I'm curious if it does. A Kodi bug or correct, but undesired behaviour, the diff...

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
I returned the item because it kept giving me problems. Many “no disc” messages in MakeMKV and sometimes it ejected discs while MakeMKV was trying to open the disc. This resulted in MakeMKV getting confused and not working anymore. In those circumstances it was impossible to perform an orderly shutd...

Re: Unable to disable subtitles in Kodi
This problem is further discussed on the Kodi Forum: Kodi (Windows and Android TV): unable to disable subtitles. https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=379599 It seems to be specific Kodi behaviour on VOBSUB subtitles that have the forced flag on at line-level (i.e. not track/MKV-container-level).

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
The player currently functions reasonably well with just the one cable between reader and laptop. But in about 1 out of 5 cases the reader ejects the disc while MakeMKV opening its contents leaving MakeMKV in some unwanted state where nothing works anymore. I also have plenty of “no disc” messages i...

Re: Unable to disable subtitles in Kodi
Just want to add: same issue with Kodi on Windows. Unable to disable subtitles.
But again, they cannot be hard-coded as I am able to turn them off in VLC-Player using that same MKV-file.

Unable to disable subtitles in Kodi
I recently encountered a strange problem with subtitles in Kodi with a possible relation to MakeMKV. I bought a Scandanavian DVD box of Bud Spencer & Terence Hill with 16 discs and when I play one of the discs directly with VLC Player, I am obliged to select a language for subtitles. There is no...

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
Thank you for your reply. I recently bought the drive through Amazon. https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B0CLGWR3CX It is sold under a different brand name (Ruizhi or whatever), but MakeMKV shows it is just a TSST D500 drive. My TSST D100 was also sold under a different brand name and my defunct HL drive was ...

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
It feels a bit like I’m talking to a brick wall, but I have some additional info. First, I upgraded to the newest MakeMKV version (v1.17.8 ), but there was no noticeable improvement. It did not solve the problem. Some discs rip ok, but on others I still get the message: ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAM...

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
Unfortunately, problem not solved. When I select Open Disc from the menu, MakeMKV tries reading the disc, but after a while, it says “No Disc”, with the log showing the following error: ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAMBLED SECTOR WITHOUT AUTHENTICATION Sometimes it works well, but in most cases it does...

Re: New TSST D500 DVD Reader spits out every DVD disc
Problem seems solved, the dvd-reader needed a second USB-cable, for some reason (additional power?)
