Re: MakeMKV assigns wrong name to subtitle track
Does anybody have a decent and secure link for downloading mkvtoolnix for Windows?
For some reason I always end up here:
https://mkvtoolnix.download/
or somewhere on GitHub where the code needs compilation.

MakeMKV assigns wrong name to subtitle track
I have more and more occurrences of MakeMKV assigning the wrong language name to the subtitle track. i.e. The video has Dutch subtitles, but in VLC or Kodi the language name comes up as English or Engels. When the subtitle track is selected, it is actually in Dutch, not in English. This is a nuisanc...

Can MakeMKV retrieve dvd DISC region info?
Is there a way I can use MakeMKV to retrieve region information from a dvd DISC? I can use the Windows Device Manager to determine the region of a dvd READER, but I can’t find a way to read the region info from a dvd DISC that is inserted into a dvd reader. And yes, there are legitimate dvd (boxes) ...

Thank you both for the information. I will look into the settings, that must be the solution.

Happy with MakeMKV but …
I am satisfied with MakeMKV with only minor complaints. If I might mention one little rather annoying thing: I rip my dvds to my internal hard disk (C:). But at times I have an external usb hd drive connected. And for some strange reason, MakeMKV always switches the path to that external hd drive wh...

Re: MakeMKV rips opening tune as seperate title
I am afraid some of the information provided here is far beyond my technical expertise, I can merely share my experience as a novice user. Perhaps manual mode offers some possibilities, I might look into that some time. It’s not only an intro that can appear as a seperate file. When a copyright warn...

Re: MakeMKV rips opening tune as seperate title
… but I have a feeling it was more like multiple episodes all joined together (or something like that). In the case of tv series, there are many (but not all) cases where a dvd contains each episode as a seperate title plus one title that contains all of the episodes, as you call joined together. T...

Re: MakeMKV rips opening tune as seperate title
Call it concatenating, appending, or stitching (what I do) with any program (as mentioned, I have done it before with Handbrake so I would use that), but I just wanted to check there isn’t some MakeMKV solution for this problem. Obviously, there isn’t. What it doesn’t completely explain is that the ...

Re: MakeMKV misses start of episodes
The reason I picked up on the error was that, after ripping, I use title and season-/episode-number to rename the mkv file. Normally I consult the IMDB website, Wikipedia or the information on the box itself to find that information. Before assigning the name to the file, I first have to check to ha...

MakeMKV rips opening tune as seperate title
I have used MakeMKV to rip about 50 boxsets and 500 movies with only minor problems. I had numerous discs that contain each episode as a seperate title (i.e. select episode) plus 1 title that contains all of the episodes (i.e. play all). First time rather confusing, but obvious not a MakeMKV problem...

Re: MakeMKV misses start of episodes
Thx for your reply. I am referring to dvds, 99% of my rips are dvd. I ripped a complete box set of a tv series and, when assigning the episode names to the ripped mkv’s, noticed that just 1 of the about 100 episodes in the box set missed the opening tune and the small part before that. The missing p...

MakeMKV misses start of episodes
I have a few rare occasions where MakeMKV misses the start of an TV episode, i.e. the opening tune and the bit before that.
I always hade the impression I could rely 100% on MakeMKV. Either it fails or it will make a 100% copy. Obviously, that's not always the case.
