Re: Can rewritable DVD's have copy-protection?
So, the DVD-R’s from the Warner Archive Collection don’t have any copy protection [CSS, APS, UoP) because it is technically impossible or because the publisher doesn’t bother to protect them?

Re: Can rewritable DVD's have copy-protection?
So, there actually is no way to tell it's a counterfeit or not.

Can rewritable DVD's have copy-protection?
I have three simple questions about rewritable DVD's, but cannot find a definitive answer on the internet. I recently bought a DVD of the Warner Archive Collection. These are written on DVD-R (or On Demand as they say) and I have my doubts whether I received a legitimate copy or not. The vendor clai...

How to purge double captions in an .srt file?
I have a tv-series (Banacek) with these terrible rolling captions. Usually there are about 2 till 3 lines of subtitles at the bottom center. When an actor speaks the words are appended to the end (right bottom) and the existing words are shifted back (to the left and upwards). At the front (top left...

Re: Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?
Thank you for all the information and examples, it is clear to me now how to do it.
(I tried testing this out, but I don't get it to work at this moment. The image is not coming up in the post. The url itself works in the browser.)

Re: Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?
Just use imgur or similar if you link to photo directly and put in the makemkv img brackets it will embed with the post OK, haven't heard about imgur before, but probably enables me to put an image online and get a url for that image. Good solution, only disadvantage: yet another account. And it do...

Why can't I upload images to the MakeMKV.com forum?
I have been struggling a few times to upload images to the forum. They seem to upload, but somehow they don't come up as attachment.
Is there something I am doing wrong? Does the site refuse filenames with spaces?

Re: DVDFab/MacTheRipper Error
I got the same DVDFab/MacTheRipper error on each of the discs when I tried to rip te dvd box "The Six Million Dollar Man" that I bought from (a partner of) Amazon US a few months ago. The counterfeit was very professionally made and I would not have taken a closer look at it, had MakeMKV ...

Re: mkvmerge --split returns unexpected results
I managed to struggle myself through ShotCut. I redid the trimming (although LosslessCut did a good job), stitched the two video's together, applied a video fade-out filter on the first video plus a video- and audio fade-in filter on the second video. Finally I exported the resulting video (which ta...

Re: mkvmerge --split returns unexpected results
I think it might help if you take a moment and understand the difference between lossy and lossless compression. .... Thank you for this very informative explanation. I didn't realize ShotCut had to decompress the source .mp4 file in order to edit it. So, when, after editing it, I export an .mp4 fi...

Re: mkvmerge --split returns unexpected results
Shotcut (freeware) seems to be able to do all the video editing (e.g. trimming, stitching, fading in, fading out, inserting a black part between scenes, basically everything you could ever want). That would make all other editing tools (like MKVmerge, LosslessCut) superfluous, if and if, I managed t...

Re: MakeMKV fails without additional info in log
Regarding the subtitles (Closed Caption CC608), I have provided some mis-information earlier. All episodes have these weird (very large, badly positioned, lots of >>) subtitles, including the ones MakeMKV ripped succesfully right away. So it has nothing to do with Handbrake. The problem is rather o...
