Re: confusing 3D-Bluray standard ripping options?

Like Ezatoka already mentioned, the unselected Video on the 3D Blu-ray is the stereo part for the second eye. If you want to have the video in 3D format you need to check it, otherwise only a normal 2D version is ripped. If you don't care about 3D and a non 3D Blu-ray is included, you can also simpl...

Re: External drive for DVD and BD only

For DVDs and normal Blu-rays, any drive that can read Blu-rays should work. Only UHD discs need LibreDrive support. Pioneer drives are considered to have the highest quality, but are hard to get in Germany at the moment. And since they are discontinued they probably never come back. But there are st...

Re: Ripping "The Blue Lagoon" German BluRay Disc (Die Blaue Lagune) - 100+ Options in MakeMKV

Use the preferred segments and merge them in the correct order with makemkv. Out of curiosity how would you do that? With the linked chapters feature it's also possible to create a file that works like seamless branching on Blu-rays with all different segments in one file. And this too… how would y...

Re: The Walking Dead- Daryl Dixon missing English subs

Extract the forced subtitles from the mkv with mkvextract which is part of mkvtoolnix. There is also a GUI wrapper available: gMKVExtractGUI After that, load the subtitle in BDSup2Sub and you can see what exactly is included. If you really want forced subtitles for all French dialogues but the force...

Re: HD-DVD Help

Does the log show any errors? Sadly some HD-DVDs are suffering from disc-rot. Especially from Warner Bros. Are the discs working properly on a dedicated player or your Xbox? A few years ago I contacted the WB support (Europe not US) and they offered me new Blu-ray discs for my damaged HD-DVDs after ...

Re: Ripping "The Blue Lagoon" German BluRay Disc (Die Blaue Lagune) - 100+ Options in MakeMKV

Check the segment maps and attached audio and subtitle tracks from each version. If they are identical you can rip just one and that's it. If they differ only in the attached audio tracks, search for the one with the tracks you want. Or if you want multiple or even all tracks make an decrypted disc ...

You could try MPC-HC with MPC Video Renderer instead of VLC.

Re: Rip to NAS or to PC first? How to multiple discs?

If you use hard drives in your NAS, it's not a good idea to directly rip four discs in parallel to it. The files will most likely end up very fragmented on the disc because they can't be written in one go to adjacent cells.

Re: Verbatim 43888

If the sticker states it's a Verbatim 43888, the seller either changed the sticker or changed the drive in the enclosure.
Based on the inlcuded drive, MakeMKV should either show a Pioneer BDR-UD04 or an LG BD-RE BU40N.

Can I ask what you paid for the drive?

Make sure "disabling all power saving in windows" includes the USB selective suspend setting:

Edit Power Plan -> Change advanced power settings -> USB settings -> USB selective suspend setting

Re: Blade Runner Final Cut (disc 3) - Navigation Errors

I successfully ripped all 5 discs of my Ultimate Edition a few years ago. But if they are on the rot list maybe I can ask Warner for a set of Blu-ray discs 8) After proof of ownership, Warner send me Blu-ray replacements for a few rotten HD DVDs a couple years ago. No need to send the old discs in. ...

Re: All 4K Releases Spreadsheet

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is stated as native 4k in the list, but detailed analyses of the 4K version suggest it was upscaled and AI enhanced and no new 4k scan of the original negatives: https://youtu.be/I3Z58uiwcME?t=329 https://youtu.be/zkNFZkUHeKQ?t=366 So I doubt that Lord of the Rings real...

Re: What are you all using to create blu ray menus?

Jellyfin is great for someone just getting into it. It's free so it's good to learn how things work, then you might go onto something like Plex later on, only downside is if you use a NAS it doesn't have a official installer package. So it's a bit harder to put on a NAS. If the NAS supports Docker ...

Re: Shouldn't Forced Subtitles Automatically Get the 'f' MKV Flag?

It depends if the subtitles are marked as forced on the subtitle track itself or are simply selected by the language selection from the disc menu. If the subtitle track contains the forced flag(s) you can configure MakeMKV to set the flag in the resulting mkv file. You have to use your own customize...

Doesn't you video editing program allow to import the mkv directly? In HandBrake make sure you have not "Hard Burn" activated for subtitles: https://handbrake.fr/docs/en/1.3.0/advanced/subtitles.html You can also use mkvtoolnix to remux the video and remove all subtitles before importing i...
