Re: 24 bit music blu ray files converted to 32 bit

Turned out I was getting a false reading from VLC. Spent a long time trying to solve a nonexistent problem. As you might have noticed from a other post from me, i am not the biggest fan of VLC. It starts with its ffmpeg4.4 Version which is now 3 years old and so causing VLC to not support modern co...

Re: Handling multi-disc films

I just give both files as parameter to the video player and he playes them, gapless, one after another. So i keep them separated and let the player do the job

I use mpv but should work with VLC and other players as well

Re: 24 bit music blu ray files converted to 32 bit

I just checked with my BluRays, they are still 24bit, nothing is changed in the bitrate

Why i switched from VLC to mpv

As i am an VLC user since 2005 and i used this software since a very long time, and i know others here use it as well, i thought i might share my experience on why i switched from VLC to mpv, because it directly relates to why i use MakeMKV in the first place. I use MakeMKV because BluRay have signi...

Re: Qt5 soon even deader as it is now

At least the RC2 that is available currently has as many features as the current Qt5 Version of Plasma has. I doubt there will be a big cut in features. But that is quite off-topic, i only mentioned KDE as they are the only one who are allowed to publish upstream patches. MakeMKV uses Qt5 and should...

Qt5 soon even deader as it is now

With KDEs mega release switching from Qt5 to Qt6, the KDE Patch collection for Qt5 also most likely will sooner or later die. Not instantly but after most stuff is ported (especially Krita), the interest will cool down in this patch collection and it will ultimately stop. At last in 2025 when Qt dro...

Re: Recommendation for best (most reliable and versatile) LibreDrive for 2024?

For those living in germany, just look on amazon for usb bluray drive, there are several ones like the one from Verbatim that say in the ratings that it works out of the box with LibreDrive.

I am pretty sure it is no coincidence that this verbatim drive is best seller #1 on german amazon

Just wanted to say thank you

I downloaded the BETA, used it until the key run and and because i was very satisfied, i bought the software and i am still very satisfied. Due to this i wanted to say thank you (and maybe open the opportunity for others to follow my example =)). I bought a BluRay player which was not able to read 4...

Re: Confused with HDR

Ah okay. So they basically do the same that you do with photos (cameras shoot with 14-16bit and still, you output an 8bit JPEG in the end) which makes sense. My display only has an contrast of 300something:1, so 8bit is completely sufficient but I think I'll consider an HDR Display in the long run t...

Confused with HDR

I hope this is the right forum to ask this question, but i am completely confused with how HDR works on PCs. I ripped my very first 4K HDR BluRay and it looks good... and that confused me, it is supposed to look bad. My Notebook does have an HDR compatiable GPU and so Windows says, it can do HDR. Bu...

I just pulled the trigger and cross-flashed the 1.03MK from the BU40N, works perfectly, rip is in process without any issues whatsoever. Thank you so much for pointing this out, saved me money (because this drive is significantly cheaper than the buffalo) and i can finally watch my 4K BluRay in all ...

It looks like an BU40N that was put into an plastic case. If i open it, the internals are identical, they even use the same korean cables and also the buttons and so on are at the same place. And the plastic case it resids in is, no question, an OEM case. I am 99% sure this is an BU40N. Its from an ...
