WH16NS40 - Stops reading normal Blurays when ripping Sometimes

Have a WH16NS40 drive with patched firmwarse (HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS40-NS50-1.05-NM00900-212005061440.bin). It is on a usb hub but I have also plugged it directly into my pc and it makes no difference. The issue I am seeing is reading a disc. I patched the drive for UHD but the discs I am having most ...

Re: Which companies still make drives for computers?

Just picked up this drive:

ASUS BW-16D1HT

Updated firmware and tested ripping 4k UHD without incident. I am noticing one weird thing I have never heard or seen before. The tray on the Asus when it opens up appears to be slamming open and makes a loud thud like it's hitting something or maybe ...

Companies I think of that I ...

Burning Question - "Quad-Layer 128 GB BD-R XL Media"

Anyone have experience burning to the new 128GB BDXL Discs as of yet?

https://www.anandtech.com/show/13575/sony-releases-128-gb-bdr-xl-media

Would any of the MK firmware's we flash our drives with prohibit burning these discs?

Asking because these are quite expensive and I am about to run one in ...

Re: Anyone Own and have experience with BDR-UD03X from Pioneer

This appears to the manual to be the OP's computer. https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Desktop/a/Manual/E22432_G20AJ_Guide_Win8-1_v3_WEB.pdf?model=G20AJ

Even though it is a desktop computer, it appears to use a slim form factor optical drive. If I understand the OP correctly, they want to ...

Get this. With enclosure and contains a Pioneer UD03.

This drive can't read UHDs, only BDs. However, it can be flashed to UD04 in Windows to do so. Let me know by PM if that is of interest.

Being a noob I can't ...
