does one need to have Java installed
Hey there. I just wondered, whether on needs OpenJDK (or JRE) installed for MakeMKV (respectively makemkvcon) do defeat all evilness? Using it on Linux, I was already able to backup some BDs/UHDs with NO Java installed ... and still seemed to work. There is however some config setting where on can s...

Re: Flashing Firmware for Blu-Ray Drive in Linux
When I got scrambled sector errors on the SCSI level in Linux, then it helped when I first played the DVD with e.g. mpv and libdvdcss. Seems like this brings the device in an " "authenticated" mode... similar to what libredrive does with for bus encryption Interestingly though, this i...

OT: doom9 forum registration?
Hey there. Sorry for being a bit off-topic (well doom9 forum is a good place for discussing copy protections, so there is a slight relation to MakeMKV). Since some weeks now I've been trying to register to the doom9 Forum, but there simply never arrives any confirmation mail (and yes I've checked sp...

Re: GPG keys
Yeah, clear, though I haven't found it there either. Anyway, even then then it's trust would completely depend on TLS, which - given the broken CA system[0] - isn't really that much. Regards, Jemima [0] Roughly some 150 root CAs in the typical browser bundles, many of them controlled by countries of...

It’s e.g. here https://keyserver.ubuntu.com/pks/lookup ... 3a18042697 (though this of course means not that it has any trust).
Cheers,

Nice... would still be good to have that directly via an option.

any known non-UHD BDs with Bus Encryption Enabled
Hey there. Hopefully not too off-topic, but for experimenting a bit with my setup, I wanted to check a non-UHD BD that does however request Bus Encryption (i.e. the Bus Encryption Enabled flag). If someone know such (non-UHD) BDs or if there'd be list, I'd be happy to hear from it. The only one that...

Re: MakeMKV cannot open BluRay-ISO with BD+
btw: is there a way to find out whether bus encryption is present (i.e. whether libre mode needs to be switched on)? I mean other than seeing eventually that the data is garbage.

Re: MakeMKV cannot open BluRay-ISO with BD+
There are normal BluRay discs that do have Bus Encryption required. Ah, I see. But still, this ain't bus encryption. Cause the image I get, contains the bitwise identical files from what MakeMKV creates when disabling decryption. I guess I found out why libbdplus cannot work... it also needs some &...

MakeMKV cannot open BluRay-ISO with BD+
Hey. I was playing a bit around and noticed the following. I have - luckily only - two BluRays with BD+ (both non-UHD). MakeMKV can decrypt both just perfectly fine. But when I first create an ISO image (well actually it's an UDF image ^^) of the discs with dd (which works flawlessly, unlike e.g. wi...
