Normally you do not need libredrive enabled unit to rip dvds, as said above. MakeMKV should rip DVDs just fine. But he is getting that error, so his drive is not supported. Regarding DVDFab, I remember it produced a very questionable DVD backup for me, which MakeMKV did not like at all. Since then I do not trust that software anymore.
