Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Are you all mainly looking for the ease of access to the titles? Using these planned obsolescence devices is not a wise decision, but I understand if the concern is mainly the ease of access to the titles, not the device or file properties. If you're talking about the Kscape I think the idea is to ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
LOL Makes me want to rush right out and get one. LMAO I added 25 lossless HDMI capture comparison with MAX DV and HDR10: These can be viewed in HDR on Chrome or Edge browsers. https://slow.pics/c/Z5uGaBPM You should make a review video. More prospective customers should be aware of these flaws.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I think he was just commenting on the fact they won't be able to fit entire 4K catalogue on 192TB, which is fair, as they keep adding movies and have 3 different encodes for many, not sure how old that piece of marketing adcopy is. I am curious what the cut-off is for that tier though, but they pro...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
They do not claim this anywhere. I'm sorry, I thought you all were chatting about https://www.kaleidescape.com/ (which does state that). Which product are you all talking about? https://www.kaleidescape.com/systems/movie-players-servers/ You're looking at the storage capacity of the device, not ind...

They do not claim this anywhere. You can see file sizes on their site without signing in. Most are less than 100GB

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Someone is for sure going to reverse engineer the Kaleidescape and upload the entire catalogue to piracy sites. Almost guaranteed in my opinion. p.s. I do not endorse piracy. Highly unlikely something like this would ever happen. Even if someone did manage to exploit the device, the content on it w...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
it's a very expensive streaming service/box with lossless audio and 100mbps bitrate encodes. It also have many HDR/4K release not available on disc. https://www.kaleidescape.com/movie-store/movies In each movie description, you can see the file size of the stream. Is there a maintained list of titl...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
PS: just ordered the kaleidescape. We will know soon enough how it compares to the UHD-BD quality  That's cool - you got the Strato E I presume? Do those boxes support playback of non- K sourced media? Like via USB for example? For testing what formats it actually supports? I'm also intere...

I apologize if I have missed some developments, but, are we now able to convert retail CMv2.9 to CMv4.0? If so how involved is that process?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 5:50 pmSo I'm no longer watching 2.9 retail movies. CMv4.0 for everything!

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is it normal for the DV P5 version of a given stream to be around 30% larger than the equivalent HDR10 version? For example: Andor.S02E04.2160p.DSNP.WEB-DL.DDPA5.1.DV.HEVC-PlayWEB.mkv: 6431381983 Andor.S02E04.2160p.DSNP.WEB-DL.DDPA5.1.HDR.HEVC-PlayWEB.mkv: 4305241410 I also notice that the hybrid P8...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@RESET You got that picture of the greyscale 10%? sorry, the 5-10% grayscales are too dim. My camera cannot capture it... I have to raise ISO, which introduces noise that masks the issue. EDIT: actually what I'm seeing is exactly like in this video: https://youtu.be/czIxtnAh36w?si=--UggVf0iEz5VP7u&...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Can DL-DV added with a software update in the future on the ugoos (coreelec)? Or is the hardware of ugoos limited to support this? I believe the issue there is that Kodi simply can't handle multiple track playback. This is also why it can't play DV from a UHD ISO - it will only play the first track...
