Re: Direct Blu-ray playback with VLC player NOT WORKING Ventura
I understand, but VLC is a very useful tool which augments some of the things MakeMKV does and it is also free. I found the answer for my setup: Ventura 13.4 (Apple M2 Max), MakeMKV 1.17.3, VLC 3.0.18 and Java (JRE & JDK) 1.8.221.11 & 1.8.0_221 respectively. I tried several different older a...

Re: MacOS Blu-Ray Icon Missing
Apple...this is incredibly childish. To still support Blu-ray but not provide an icon.
After they started soldering memory and other components to the motherboard to prevent users from getting them cheaper elsewhere, I don't ever want to see anyone at Apple pointing a finger at Microsoft.

Re: Direct Blu-ray playback with VLC player NOT WORKING Ventura
I am still getting the annoying "This Blu-ray disc requires Java for menus support. Java was not found on your system." error message. So, I cannot see Java menus.
Is there a way to repair this with the software I already have installed?

Re: Direct Blu-ray playback with VLC player NOT WORKING Ventura
I may be doing something wrong here, but I do not think that is working. I am running Ventura 13.4 (Apple M2 Max), MakeMKV 1.17.3, VLC 3.0.18 and Java 1.8.0_371. 1. Each time I try to run the commands you listed below, the OS fails to make a symbolic link with the following error: ln -s /Application...

MakeMKV Enable VLC to Play Protected Blu-rays
I am running Mac OS Ventura (13.4) on a M2 chip with a licensed copy of MakeMKV (1.17.3 ARM/64). I have free VLC (Version 3.0.18 Vetinari (Apple Silicon)). I am trying to enable integration between the two apps from within MakeMKV. It does not work. Error: Privacy and Security; "makemkv" w...

Re: General Questions Not in FAQ
I think we're talking past one another. OK, so when the menu first opens after I scan a blu-ray, at the top level I might have 100 selections and all the boxes are checked. Each one of those also has checked boxes beneath it. I can see it is very easy to unselect all the boxes at the top level, but ...

Re: General Questions Not in FAQ
Let's talk about unselecting check boxes one more time so I'm straight on it. I see where I can (on a Mac) use CTRL-right click-Unselect all. However, this appears to work only at certain levels. What is the keystroke to use to unselect EVERYTHING (all check boxes at all levels). I need to be able t...

Viewing Blu-Ray Chapters
What is a good way to view chapters within a blu-ray backup file (hard drive) on a Mac? I burned a backup copy of Spartacus - War of the Damned to my hard drive. It has ten episodes and three blu-ray discs. I want to make an .mp4 out of the episode which does not contain a preview of the last episod...

Re: General Questions Not in FAQ
I figured out how to open a backup blu-ray from disk using VLC and found the text was not showing up in the MakeMKV backup copy. Disabled subtitles in Handbrake and burned another .mp4; worked great.

Re: General Questions Not in FAQ
Tried to upload a screenshot, but the board quota has been reached. This does not appear to be a subtitle. Not sure what it is. The text appears at the top of the screen. I did burn a copy of the blu-ray to disk first, so I can try again to create the .mp4 file. The other Star Wars blu-ray discs in ...

Re: General Questions Not in FAQ
Understand about the backup button. I just wish it was available for blu-ray after the disc had been scanned. I think this would eliminate some of the problems experienced with other follow on apps like Handbrake. For instance, I burned a backup copy of my Start Wars - The Empire Strikes Back blu-ra...
