Too many inaccessible titles
I've been trying to collect bonus material lately, often from discs I've ripped in the past but only for the main movie content and nothing else. My typical method for doing this is to play a disc using VLC (occassionally resorting to (gack!) a stand-alone Blu-ray player when VLC won't cooperate) an...

Re: MakeMKV mysteriously fails with old "The Power of Myth" DVDs (where HandBrake has no problems)
I don't disagree (& encourage you to report the bug)... I've now reported the bug: https://github.com/CCExtractor/ccextractor/issues/1655#issuecomment-2604349689 ...and the first response I got is that MakeMKV is using a very old version of CCExtractor. The latest version is 0.94, released 2021...

Re: MakeMKV mysteriously fails with old "The Power of Myth" DVDs (where HandBrake has no problems)
I don't disagree (& encourage you to report the bug), but my solution yields relatively immediate results (which I tend to prefer). Pick your poison. Fortunately in this case I'd already solved the whole problem with HandBrake. And perhaps this subtitle glitch is something extremely rare that I...

Re: MakeMKV mysteriously fails with old "The Power of Myth" DVDs (where HandBrake has no problems)
CCExtractor is a 3rd-party tool & these things happen. OpenSubtitles.com is a reliable go to for plaintext subs. YMMV Perhaps I should report the bug to whomever makes CCExtractor then. Please don't take this as me dissing your help, you've provided useful suggestions, but all in all getting Ma...

Re: MakeMKV mysteriously fails with old "The Power of Myth" DVDs (where HandBrake has no problems)
That does seem to be the issue. Thanks for figuring that out so fast!
This is, however, only a poor work-around since I did want to extracts the subtitles, and HandBrake successfully accomplished that.

MakeMKV mysteriously fails with old "The Power of Myth" DVDs (where HandBrake has no problems)
What's odd here is that there were no signs of trouble at all, just out-of-the-blue "Failed to save title" at the end of all but one title on one of two discs. No ugly noises as drives tried to recalibrate, no checksum errors, nothing. My optical drives were purring like kittens (at least ...

Re: Is the End Coming?
As far as I can tell after searching around a bit, Sony hasn't announced that it won't make players, just that it's abandoning disc production.
So we still might have Panasonic and Sony as options for new Blu-ray players.

Have 4K Blu-ray makers given up on creating new encryption codes?
I haven't had a problem in months with any new release not ripping immediately, instead of waiting a week or so for someone to break the code on the new release. I suppose that might be a bad thing, another death knell for physical media, but maybe the studios are realizing that those few who still ...

Re: Questions about mkvalidator, or if there's anything better than mkvalidator to validate MKV files
The user did, however, have a ffmpeg command to test .mkv files for corruption... Thanks! I'll give this a try. This turns out to be a very slow, and didn't reveal any warnings or errors where mkvalidator did. The problem could be, of course, that my Zidoo might be sensitive to issues that it shoul...

Questions about mkvalidator, or if there's anything better than mkvalidator to validate MKV files
My wife and I were watching Raiders of the Lost Ark yesterday (she told me specifically that she was in a mood to see Nazis get melted). We were watching a copy of the movie when playback stuttered and skipped about 12 minutes in. Then again about 25 minutes in. This movie was ripped using MakeMKV a...

Re: Windows/VLC integration: Can MakeMKV only integrate one disc at a time?
with 2 drives that what you want anyway to be able to rip 2 discs at once and not have the the program ping each drive and cause it to hang. really it should be enabled by default would not hurt people with 1 drive and would save alot of email of my drive hangs and goes slow when i open another mak...

Re: Windows/VLC integration: Can MakeMKV only integrate one disc at a time?
ok i have tested it and i am not able to reproduce it works fine for me but i do have ask for single drive mode enabled so try enabling it and see if it works. Okay, it works for me now when using single-drive mode. It's a bit counter-intuitive that I need single-drive mode to fully use multiple dr...
