Does ripping blurays ruin/destroy the disk?
Maybe it's a dumb question, idk, but let me explain. I have a couple of disks that whenever they were new, i ripped them just fine, but now i cannot rip them anymore, i throws errors, but only when i go rip it, if i watch them, on a bluray player or on my computer, they work just fine for the entire...

Re: May Key is bad
Is there a new code for June? Im trying to copy a Blu ray and it wont let me You could set-up a virtual machine. I tested it with microsoft hyper-v software and it works, you just need the virtual machine to see the drive and that's it. You could potentially do infinite rips, once the 30 days trial...

Re: Questions about a drive
You put the absolute worst firmware available on the drive, so that won’t help. For the best chance at some decent speeds, flash WH16NS60 1.02-MK firmware to it. That may also help with the noises. where do i find the MK firmware, because i found the "all you need firmware" zip, but the f...

Re: Questions about a drive
Your assumptions aren't quite accurate. Technically yes, the max speed for the BU40N is 6x for UHD and 8x for the NS40 but you will generally get that 6x speed from the BU40N for most of the rip, whereas the NS40 may reach 8x for some moments of a rip but for a lot of the rip it will only read at 5...

Re: Questions about a drive
Rip speed varies by disc. MakeMKV will slow down the rip speed if it is having trouble correctly ripping the disc. Often ripping slower improves the odds of a successful rip. The noise you hear is probably the laser head backing up to read a section of the disc a second (or third, etc.) time. The d...

Re: Questions about a drive
Generally speaking, LG & ASUS drives require flashing to rip UHDs. Check out the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide yes. i did check it and browsing around i found the file for mine but i don't think that mine is 100% supported for 4k, because yes now it can read and rip 4k disks but, won't go ...

Re: Questions about a drive
I also have an hitachi-lg BU40N, but i wanted to change it because i didn't like the form factor, and kinda slower rip times.
anyway this drive can easily read 4k drives and it isn't even patched
Here's a screenshot:

Questions about a drive
Hi, I recently bought an hitachi-lg BH16NS40 and even though on the site it says that this drive can read BDXL up to 128GB, if i put a 4k disk in it, it won't show up. 1. Do i have to flash a firmware? 2. Do i have to return the drive and buy another one? (i was looking an asus BW-16D1H) I leave att...
