You can also see in the hand, envelope and bags in this frame, so brightness seems to be slightly different, so I doubt it: https://slow.pics/c/kecXpEAV
Also, there was barely any actual L2 trim in the KOR UHD BD RPU, so generating a new one for FRA UHD BD makes even more sense. Cheers.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Not sure if this matters, but makeMKV did recently have another update on Sep 30th, in case it fixed these issues: MakeMKV v1.17.8 (30.9.2024) Improved handling for discs with mastering errors and with structure protection Small improvements and bugfixes Notable bug fixes: Audio transcoding failed o...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Some movies just compress very well, so I would guess it's fine. You could always run a 7-2 comparison with the script for your input vs. output encodes if you're unsure.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yeah, possibly Capelight or a 3rd party using some wonky tools or out of date authoring flow. The Second Sight GBR 4K UHD BD is coming shortly for Late Night with the Devil, so we'll see if that one has the issue with DV at all, likely will be fine and maybe better encoding overall. https://www.blu-...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
It IS definitely the case. This all started back in the day when under the name WKS, they put out some Avatar 4K release out of the blue claiming it was from GPLAY with VP9 codec (which I even wondered if it was real?), but it was just a shitty upscale and faked, even if in an ironic twist, the fina...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hmm, that's strange. I wonder what it is then? Maybe there are multiple cases where RPU ends up incomplete? I'll make a bug report post one day if I have time and figure out the pattern. Do you know if quietvoid uses makeMKV and could advise at all?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I have a feeling MakeMKV issue is only with some discs that have seamless branching, but just a guess. Could post on this forum some kind-of bug report for it? Maybe the dev would be able to figure it out by talking to quietvoid or something. Worth verifying though, agreed.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
FWIW, when that happens to me, I just briefly turn on VPN and it seems to usually let the file download fast again, at least with JDownloader2 and a paid MEGA account. Cheers.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hybrid simply means multiple sources were used, sometimes it has nothing to do with the video/DV layer, but rather audio tracks taken from other discs for example. Release notes help make it more clear.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Samsung is just stubborn because they invested so much in it and don't want to pay license fees to Dolby I'm guessing Right but that's what got me thinking - who's gonna pay to license Dolby Vision in the future when it's old tech, for backwards compatibility? Can't see people (comapnies) willing t...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
as i just said, no point watching static HDR10 when you can either generate or use metadata from web Just thinking here - what about in the future when HDR10/Dolby Vision is last-gen technology? You think maybe they'll keep Dolby Vision for backwards compatibility on new-gen TV sets? HDR10 only? HD...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Wow, so it does involve hex editing, that's what I was curious about, or if someone developed some tool open source or something. I really appreciate the detailed explanation sir. Thanks LV8HD. <3

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi everyone, some time ago I asked if anybody here knew how to change maxcll and maxfall values within the hevc stream itslef without the need to re-encode it. Well ,I've finally figured it out. Thus, a question comes to my mind: how important are these values in the actual playblack? I've seen man...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@kazuma, simple answer is that true TV-led means basically passthrough essentially, and the TV does all the processing for Dolby Vision. Player-led or LLDV means the playback device does the processing and then sends the signal to the display. What's important to note is that TV-led is not always be...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Makes sense, I don't blame you either for leaving it in the past. Not to mention, a tool like that may have an unintended consequence of more "experts" and groups around the interwebz to modify retail values and spread misinformation about what they should or should not be.
