Re: Installing as non-root user
Talk to a security expert and ask him about the first thing to do security wise .... This is why snap and flatpack are this confined.... But of course you are free to do what you want. Security professional here. Put stuff in $HOME/bin and be happy. If a browser was that easily broken that it could...

Re: Old version message
I sent an admin a pm, and no reply. I think they are ignoring us beta users, hoping we'll cough up some cash. Maybe? If you look at the main download page, 1.17.5 was just released for Windows and Mac today MakeMKV v1.17.5 (25.9.2023) I expect the Linux beta version will be out in due course. Indee...

Re: Star Wars "Skywalker Saga" box set bluray 2019 UK region free edition
So I noticed a pattern in segments, which is more easily seen in a fixed font and with spaces where the segments are the same across the 3 versions 800: 901 902 922 923 924 914 925 915 926 916 927 917 928 918 929 919 930 920 931 921 801: 911 933 935 937 939 941 943 945 947 949 802: 912 933 935 937 9...

Star Wars "Skywalker Saga" box set bluray 2019 UK region free edition
This is a 18 disk box set, but I'm only concerned with the 9 movie disks (bonus content disks; meh). Each disk appears to have 3 mpls files that might be valid. They are always 800 801 802 eg "Return Of The Jedi" 800: Segment map: 901,902,922,923,924,914,925,915,926,916,927,917,928,918,929...

De-select all?
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but is there an easy way to "deselect all" titles?
With the obfuscation on some disks there could be 400 titles and you need to deselect all except the one good one. Clicking 400 times is tedious. Is there a better way?

Re: DNS Issues in the US for hkdata.fairuse.org
This doesn't seem to be a "US" problem; it's a generic DNS problem. I can't do the lookup from a server in Amsterdam. And if we do some simple diagnostics... These are meant to be nameservers, when asking the authoritative servers for org. eg b0.org.afilias-nst.org. fairuse.org nameserver ...

Re: 2x WH16NS40, 1x BH16NS40, 1xGGW-H20L Drives For Sale
Hi, I'm a n00b here. Could you explain why your wh16ns40 is worth $130 when I can get one new for $65 from Amazon? https://www.amazon.com/LG-Super-Internal-Blu-ray-Rewriter/dp/B00E7B08MS. I bought the Amazon one and flashed it so it can rip UHD, and it seems to work for me. It has the 1.2 firmware. ...

Windows 11 vs Debian Linux 11
For a long time I've been ripping DVDs, but haven't done BluRays because my mid-2011 Mac Mini (that Ii use as a media player) just can't handle it (it drops frames like eggs being dropped in a 3-legged egg and spoon race). So I've not been ripping BDs. But these days even cheapo devices (Firestick 4...
