since doing this, its no longer working for me
even after removing the sym links

is there something i need to do in handbrake to tell it to us those files

I am currently experimenting with selection rules

is there a way to refresh/reload the rules without re-opening the disk
im not finding a button or context item to do so
its very long every time im trying to see if im getting the result i was looking for

I had the exact same problem
It's getting hung up on smaller meaningless titles
in handbrake change the minimum title length from 10seconds to 600seconds (10min)
it will sail right through it and work again

ok, so today I ripped a bluray completely different story the "regular" subtitles look great, exactly as expected they look like the cc -> text converted ones from DVD not sure where the difference is or why but -on bluray "regular" subtitles look great -on dvd "regular"...

at he very least I would like the ability to prioritize the CC as 1st/default

perhaps adding the ability to further filter based on description
