Makemkv for uhd purposes works with compatible drives....
It is onus of perspective user to obtain a compatible drive.

I do and once I saw it recommended update of my pioneer drive fw..quickly disabled it

Guess there will always be some who will not listen to experts and others with working experience and update firmwares to their own detriment

It is an amazing service the resellers are providing here selling the pioneer drives with older firmware. I imagine these drives must be extremely hard to acquire.
