To find out type in Device Manager in the Start Menu/Search Box and click on device manager.

Re: Is a SATA drive enclosure needed?

If the drive in question is an internal 5.25" type.
Then YES.
You will need en enclosure for Optical Disk Drives which uses SATA.

If you have any old 3.5" External HDD laying around that may be broken or you do not need.
You can always crack these open and use the USB to SATA adapter board

You ...

Re: Bluray rip question

I get this as well when seeking videos.
Its just the codec.

Reason why it does not happen with DVDs is because DVDs use a different codec.

DVDs uses MPEG-2
Bluray uses MPEG-4(H.264/AVC)

Re: Recommendation for BlueRay External DVD ROM

I don't own any UHD disks (or 4K blu-rays). I am only looking to rip standard blu-ray disks. $150 is not bad for the PIONEER External Blu-ray Drive BDR-X13UBK. I just want to make sure it 100% works before I buy it. Thanks.

Then look for a BDR-XD07TB.
It should be old enough to work with ...

Re: Problem ripping Death Note Blu Ray

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

I've attached some images of what I see in MakeMKV and in file explorer.

https://iili.io/JIJu0X4.md.png
I don't imagine this helps very much as it looks like MakeMKV is showing all the files it sees on the disc, I just don't ...

Re: 2 hash error

Medium Error refers to the disc being the "medium"
The uncorrectable error means that the drive is having issues reading the disc.

This can be either due to damage or dust on the disc surface.
I have even seen finger prints cause these errors

Give the disc a clean with a good quality microfiber ...

Re: Recommendation for BlueRay External DVD ROM

Never heard of Wbacon.

I would personally recommend Pioneer as a brand.
Never had anything go wrong with them
Most of the newer ones should support LibreDrive.

BDR-XD08TB seems to be the lastest non UHD Bluray writer they have.
Try and find a BDR-XD07TB, it should be cheaper since it is an older ...

Re: Recommendation for BlueRay External DVD ROM

I used a Pioneer BDR-XD05TB but I currently also run a Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD
The BDR-XD05TB can read CD, DVD, BDR and write to CD, DVD and BD
The BDR-XS07TUHD can read CD, DVD, BDR, UHD BD and write to CD, DVD, BD, UHD-BD

The BDR-XD05TB is a top loading styled drive where as the BDR-XS07TUHD is a ...

Re: Problem ripping Death Note Blu Ray

This is common with animes.
Normally you would have multiple .VOB(for DVDs) or .M2TS(For Blurays) as well as the info files which makemkv will pickup.
The episode select menu will just point to the file in question.
But the issue here arises from the fact that their is a SINGLE video file for the ...

Read failures on multiple discs

Hi.

I am re-ripping my bluray movies again as the first time time i encoded them down to a smaller file size as I had limited storage space.
But now since I have a 30TB NAS I decided to re-rip them and just leave the streams as is.

But some of the disc are

Disc will fail to even be detected
