Re: DVD image full disc backup always fails with weird debug code.
if you mount the ISO in your virtual drive and make a backup of the DVD (which is possible with latest versions of MakeMKV). This will create an ISO as well. But you can try. This is the process that is giving me the "Backup failed" error. Other than that, you can try DVD Decrypter with t...

DVD image full disc backup always fails with weird debug code.
I am trying to get a .iso file of Spriggan to play ball. At first I believed it was an encrypted backup - playing a .vob in VLC produces the expected black screen and glitchy audio. Opening the .iso as a file in MakeMKV gives a list of files, and they all rip just fine and those do play in VLC witho...

Re: Spotting Pirated Content
So long as that seller didn't re-compress the disc images they ripped, as in they used dual-layer media where needed and you still have all the menus and special features and decent quality, I wouldn't fret too much over it... unless you paid full retail price for those discs, then I'd be annoyed :l...

Re: Backup Disc
I would then also be curious, if you did an encrypted backup of the same disc using your two different solutions, would you get files with exactly identical sizes? Since in that case neither MakeMKV or your other mystery software are doing any on-the-fly modifications to the data?

Re: Backup Disc
A bit more info would be helpful, primarily what software you used to do the full iso backup, and then what software you used to get the video files out of the iso. Needless to say MakeMKV is not even capable of compressing the video data as it's being ripped, and even more certainly not when doing ...

PAL SD 16x9 on Blu-ray Issues
My friend and I have narrowed down a peculiar issue as this: When ripping SD PAL 16x9 video off of blu-rays, the DAR gets all mixed up. Instead of taking the 720x576 stream and displaying it at 1024x576, like it ought to, it gets displayed at 1047x576, slightly wider than 16x9. This does not happen ...

Re: "But the disk is perfect and plays in my DVD/BD player!"
But I wonder if it is possible to set MKV to rip at 1X speed? (Or lower?) It might essentially switch the drive to normal playback speeds. That would reduce the disc vibration possibly. Such a suggestion might give you fewer errors due to disc imbalance. It is possible to alter MakeMKV's maximum dr...

Re: "But the disk is perfect and plays in my DVD/BD player!"
I used AnyDVD 7695 with my Slysoft lifetime license for 10 years until my crazy pc disappeared the key. Everything worked with the older version file, and only Lionsgate was a problem. I used Shrinkdvd32 on those until recently when I lost my key. My Clone DVD still works, but using makeMKV elimina...

Re: Intel drops Windows SGX
I find it very interesting how publishers have taken over the BD UHD market. I can not find any BD-R UHD blank discs from any of the popular retail stores. Most UHD disc (66GB) contain more data than will fit on a 50GB BD-R DL disc. This means that a BD-R XL (100GB) disc is often required, which is...

Re: Pioneer firmware update February 2023
Haha, unwittingly updated my brand new S13U-X to 1.04 before seeing this announcement, had to send it back in and get a replacement that was luckily still on 1.03. Will NOT be touching the firmware from now on lmao.

Re: Pioneer BDR-XD08UMB-S Vs. BDR-XS07UHD - Buying Advice Needed
08 series uses USB-C, comes with a right-angle USB-C to straight USB-C cable and USB C to A adapter in the box. 07 series uses the annoying outdated "Short Slim" USB 3 connector, which is basically if Micro-USB was slightly longer and somehow even more flimsy. And, of course, non-reversib...

Fyi for anyone else reading this later makemkv drives speed control works natively on pioneer drives it is not persistent like the pioneer utility can write it to the drive the speed setting but anytime you use makemkv it can set your speeds if you follow this https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewto...

Re: Pioneer BD Drive Utility Won't Install?
The same thing happened to me, had a new Windows install for a new pc build with the BDR-S13U-X, downloaded the latest firmware without looking here first and now the drive utility will not install, uhd playback is busted and now even normal blu-ray playback isn't consistent (freezes on occasion, s...
