700usd is not doable, you'll need to spend more. I've used 5 "Digital Pioneer BDR-212V" for UHD but I only did this twice (10 discs total). I don't rip regularly so I'm not sure if they're good drives, but the drives can be had sometimes for ~85usd on Amazon. After tax this came out to be...
I'm currently using an external LibreDrive-enabled slim drive for ripping Blu-rays and some UHDs, but I’m ready to scale up to something more powerful. Here's what I’m running now:
7. My Current Setup (for context)
Drive Information
Model: HL-DT-ST BD-RE BP60NB10
Firmware: 1.02 (patched for LibreDrive)
LibreDrive Status: Enabled
Platform: MT1959
AACS version: 47
DVD all regions: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
It works great for casual use, but I’d like to build a dedicated internal system — mainly to rip TV box sets and UHD movies more efficiently with multiple drives running at once. Here's what I'm aiming for:
1. Drive Configuration
Number of Drives: 5 internal SATA drives
Purpose: Simultaneous ripping of Blu-ray and UHD discs to enhance efficiency
2. Drive Recommendations
Preferred Models: Reliable and MakeMKV-compatible, ideally UHD-friendly or flashable (e.g., WH16NS60, WH16NS40, BH16NS55, etc.)
Firmware: Open to flashing, just need guidance on known-good models
3. Enclosure/Case Suggestions
Must support 5x 5.25" internal bays (I know these are rare these days!)
Hi everyone, I noticed in previous threads that others were showing issues ripping Attack On Titan from their personal collection. I believe I am taking the proper steps to avoid these kinds of problems, but I would like to see if this can be resolved. Year after year, others seem to come across th...
Do you recommend a cleaner or cleaning method? I don't have another drive but cleaner I could get via Amazon. Looking at your log, which I skipped looking at earlier because you had said you sent a dump to the svq email address so I assumed you got a volume key not known error....that does not appea...
MakeMKV v1.18.1 win(x64-release) started Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as C:\Users\mclev/MakeMKV_log.txt Using LibreDrive mode (v06.3 id=4C194CE2C4D1) Backing up disc into folder "E:/Video/backup/INCREDIBLES_2" Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files. Err...
Hey all, Just in case anyone needs it, just finishing using KeyDB_Helper.exe on my entire collection limited edition Blu-Ray Demon Slayer Collection. Just in case anyone needs these for educational purposes. This contains Season 1-5 and also Mugen Train movie. 0xFCB44EB7555075FD454E398461AFD7EF866D3...
I vouch for KeyDB Helper - it really did help me a lot when trying to resolve this. If set up correctly my tool has a few benefits. 1) It synchronizes the keydb with FindVUK under the covers, then copies it to the appropriate MakeMKV data directory to ensure MakeMKV uses it 2) If you add the known M...
deleted _private_data.tar and found that "This disc uses newer version of AACS protection." went away (obviously before deleting I added the entries mentioned above)

Okay, awesome — appreciate your patience and guidance on this! It definitely helped clarify the process not just for this title, but for how I’ll handle future discs as well.
I’ve now submitted the encrypted `.tar.gz` dump file directly to svq@makemkv.com, and also shared it here for reference:

All three discs in the Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc Blu-ray Set (MKBv82) ...
