If this is to far off topic or out of place, I am sorry. I'm curious if maybe you could disassemble and flash directly to the chip to down grade firmware on drives with newer firmware. though if the flash is BGA it could be tricky to accomplish and may not be worth it. Does anyone have a drive they...

I have drives, that I have flashed and work great thanks to people like you on this forum.

I was just asking to see if anyone had looked into the hardware already. Ill order a drive tonight so i can get eyes on the flash.

Personal opinion, but... second drives should be different than the original, when they can be "at least" as good. I'd go with a Pioneer drive for a second. I’ve searched around the forums, looking for what people have posted about the Pioneer drives and decided on a BDR-XS07UHD slim driv...

I have a BU40N that I have flashed back to 1.03 and this thing is a work horse. I’m looking for suggestions for a second drive, It seems like from what I’ve read that a disk can be read better in one drive than another. I’m leaning towards pioneer, but maybe a second BU40N.
