Re: Billycar11 Selling Flashed Pioneer UHD Drives USA only, Remote Flashing,Tested & Makemkv Discount Code
you have to bend the tabs or slot them with a Dremel take out the motherboard of the case if you are going to slot them Thanks. Does the Vantec NexStar DX2 require these modifications too? It looks like it can accommodate longer drives. I might still be able to return the OWC drive and get the Vant...

Re: Least ‘Bad’ Hitachi-LG Drive for UHD?
The internal drives has different quality, there are better and worse drives, but with the BU40N I've personally the best expierience with difficult discs (in relation to LG-based drives). Also the recommended firmware is important. With the BU40N 1.00 for example the ripping of horrible 4K disc Bl...

Re: Least ‘Bad’ Hitachi-LG Drive for UHD?
If you want a LG and maximum ripping speed is not very important for you take a LG BU40N or a BU50N. It's a slim drive. You can find it without enclosure or built in the new Verbatim 43888 or in the LG BP55EB40. Also Techpulse, Nolyth or Orico has externel slim drives which could has a BU40N inside...

Least ‘Bad’ Hitachi-LG Drive for UHD?
Hey everyone, Looking for a bit of advice. I know the general consensus here deservedly leans heavily in favor of Pioneer drives, and tends to steer clear of LG models. I already own a couple of Pioneer drives and have been really happy with them. That said, I’m considering picking up an LG drive as...

Re: “Fatal Error Occured” with MacOS 15.4 Developer Beta 1
Hadn't used MakeMKV for quite some time and tried at the worst moment, just after updating all my Mac to macOS 15.4! :-) Also, MakeMKV can rip discs in a Windows VM (I fully tested Parallels Desktop and started a rip with UTM) on an Apple Silicon Mac, so for those with Windows VM, that's a (hopeful...

Re: “Fatal Error Occured” with MacOS 15.4 Developer Beta 1
FYI: As a temporary get around, I'm running a Windows 11 Virtual machine using Parallels. Makemkv for Windows works fine in that environment. Just a few extra steps. Definitely prefer to run it native on the mac. I've tried this as well, but I keep getting the occasional SCSI error, and 4K's will n...

Re: Seinfeld - rename files to episode names
Best option in my opinion is still to just insert each disk, run VLC under the auspices of strace and track which mpls/m2ts is opened when selecting an episode on the disc menus -- yes this needs to be done in Linux in this example. Which java are you running for the menus to pop up in VLC? On Sein...

Re: MakeMKV resetting dvd drive region code
I have had this happen to me as well and I'm on MacOS. Not sure whether it's a bug in MMKV but it does concern me. I now use different drives for R1 and R2 DVDs.

New Pioneer BDR-X13J-X external Drive...
There seems to be a new top of the line drive from Pioneer for the Japanese market... The BDR-X13J-X... Even if it's only a BDR-S13J-X in an external casing... Good on them for continuing to release new products in this day and age: https://www.cdrinfo.com/d7/content/pioneer-japan-announces-new-bdr-...

Re: Running multiple instance of MakeMKV
You can enable "Single drive mode" by checking the box, "Ask for singe drive mode" on the IO section of preferences. That will turn on asking any time more than one drive is detected... Which would only be when you have more than one drive plugged in. Only one drive? You won't b...
