Those subs (alien language in a few select scenes on Jedi and New Hope that I've played with so far) are marked forced... they are just in a different track than the primary subs. Using latest 1.6.5 version on OS X, this bombs out and never opens the disc. Let me know what info might be needed.

AnyDVD had no problems with this disc.

You need to remove daspi.kext from /System/Library/Extensions . What you describe sounds strange, as DASPI is not used at all during disc read, only during disc scan. Are other programs affected?
