Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake

Hmmm... I just tried what I described. Take the main sub track, burn it once "normally" in handbrake and choose it again and choose "forced" and "burned in" but it did not work.

Re: PGS Subtitles MakeMKV & Handbrake

Guys, I've just stumbled again across this thread as I discovered that recent Handbrake builds now support forced subtitles. What I was trying to figure out is what the best approach is if I want to preserve the original PGS subtitle track (all subs) as well as have forced subtitles working. Current...

Re: So, can someone summarize the state of forced subtitles?

That is interesting and extremely odd. Kill Bill has a separate sub track for the Japanese that is spoken throughout, but it is definitely a forced track. So, basically what is going on with Star Wars, is that once you start playback it just selects that alien language track to display, vs. using th...

Re: So, can someone summarize the state of forced subtitles?

The new star wars movies. Those subs (alien language in a few select scenes on Jedi and New Hope that I've played with so far) are marked forced... they are just in a different track than the primary subs. If they weren't forced then MakeMKV would not have extracted them into their own separate sub...

The menu system on the disc marks a subtitle track to play when you select to play the movie.
Can you give an example of such a title?

Re: So, can someone summarize the state of forced subtitles?

If forced subtitles were "in a subtitle track and NOT marked as forced" how on earth would they display automatically? As far as I know there are only two types of "forced" subtitles; 1. burned in. 2. "forced". either as part of a larger subtitle track (individual subti...

Re: So, can someone summarize the state of forced subtitles?

Hi Dave, I appreciate the info, I'm very familiar with forced subs and how to deal with them, was just trying to figure out if some bizarre thing had changed with MakeMKV after seeing all the hubbaloo around these new titles. Hopefully at some point the MakeMKV software will be updated to automatica...

Re: So, can someone summarize the state of forced subtitles?

Now, I'm even more concerned. When I ripped LOTR EE Fellowship, I took the defaults which I believes looks for forced subs, and I ended up with something like six subtitle tracks, but none of them are forced. Yet, when I play this title in XBMC, the Elvish language subtitles are coming up, it appea...

So, can someone summarize the state of forced subtitles?

I guess I'm a little confused by some of these discussions about forced subtitles in MKVs with MakeMKV. I see people commenting about having problems with some of the new titles which might either have multiple subtitle tracks with multiple tracks forced (Star Wars) as well as LOTR EE. Has MakeMKV d...

Disc is now on loan to friends, I will try to do this when I get it back or maybe someone else will be able to replicate the issue.

Megamind blu-ray fails on OS X

Using latest 1.6.5 version on OS X, this bombs out and never opens the disc. Let me know what info might be needed.

AnyDVD had no problems with this disc.

Re: DASPI Kernel?

You need to remove daspi.kext from /System/Library/Extensions . What you describe sounds strange, as DASPI is not used at all during disc read, only during disc scan. Are other programs affected? What happens if you install and run previous version, 1.6.3 while keeping DASPI - is read speed also af...

Re: DASPI Kernel?

How would I remove the DASPI kernel extensions? I installed them and it seems to have caused performance to take a serious hit. read speeds on my LG BD/DVD ROM drive have gone from 6-8X with DVD down to 2-5X along with lots of slow downs and start ups where read speed goes in the tank. Ripping a dua...
