It is very, very rare for disk authors to use the "Forced flag" in subtitle tracks. My collection is over 95% foreign language, and I've only encounter TWO titles authored that way. Apparently, it's more popular with German-language titles.
It was more common during the DVD-only era.

Re: Feature request - Closed Caption support

Might be dropped. Doing subtitles like CC on DVD is a PITA cause the subtitles are images not "text" files. So to capture them you must OCR them. Which is not that accurate and a ton of coding work. No, the captions we're talking about are text, not images like DVD subtitles. The problem ...

Re: Flac Surround

Plex is capable of downmixing 7.1 to 5.1 without dropping channels. The downmix coefficients provided in the DTS or Dolby bitstream could theoretically vary from frame to frame, but I don't think any encoder actually supports such a thing, so I doubt there's any bitstream that does this anywhere in ...

Re: Flac Surround

The channel layout and channel order should be correctly preserved when converting to FLAC, as is the main audio presentation (and losslessly, of course). However, the source audio may feature additional metadata such as: - 7.1 to 5.1 downmix coefficients - 7.1/5.1 to Stereo downmix coefficients - D...

Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3) != TrueHD, so I don't understand the question.

Re: BD Drive problem after 1.9.8/9 upgrade

In summary, the new dts code starting in makemkv 1.9.5 and in the most recent 1.9.9 was giving "auxiliary over read" errors with at least hb 0.10.2. The problem can be resolved by upgrading to hb 0.10.5. I did not try hb 0.10.3, and there is no 10.4. FWIW, it was never a MakeMKV issue, re...

s/is/is not

The graphical interface is open source, but the main program isn't, so most repositories will not want it.

Re: John Wick - US Version

What I mean by that is that once it is ripped it will not play and if I try to transcode it with Handbreak it will not detect an audio track even though I know it is there. HandBrake doesn't support Dolby Atmos at all, make sure to include the TrueHD track and not the TrueHD/Atmos one. And I would ...

Someone else summed it up quite nicely:

Re: Dolby Digital Plus Problem

FFmpeg (and libav) only support E-AC-3 "independent" substreams, and the 4.0 E-AC-3 stream in this case only contains a "dependent" substream (kind of like a DTS "extension" I guess). It's a bit weird that MakeMKV produces a track with only the dependent substream, sinc...

Yes, HandBrake doesn't support Dolby Atmos yet. But that's quite unrelated to the original poster's issue.

Re: v1.9.4 setup gives the error: directory not empty

It's an audio format (also known as DTS-HD LBR). As I understand it, it shares very little in common with the other DTS codecs except the name.
