Had to uncheck the video hardware acceleration to get VLC to play some 4Ks. With the box ticked the playback stutters and the audio is a disaster of noise. With the box unchecked playback is smooth as silk.

Okay, I downgraded to 1.02. Gear grinding noise still there. It's not worse than 1.03. Read rate max: 7.4X (MakeMKV BETA speed setting on) Reading Dune 1984 4K. Single movie file only. No gear noise during long read. Some gear noise at start as it did the math to read a 4K disk. No worse than firm 1...

No errors yet. So, no good reason to downgrade to 02? I'd rather not.

Hummm... It may be worth the trouble to flash mine again. Anyone else see the grinding go away with 1.02?

Im not 100% sure I can go down to 02 since this drive came from the factory with 03 on it.

Why did you drop to 1.02? My drive came with 1.03 so I used 1.03 MK version and it seems to work well, except for a loud grinding sound.

Got the new drive working. An LG WH16NS60 1.03 and it rips 4K like a dream. No problems.

The problem is it sounds like its grinding itself apart. Loud plastic gear noises.

Do I take it apart and put some lithium grease on the works or just learn to tolerate it?

Do you think force flashing it might work? At this point I have nothing to lose.

This drive came with BP50NW40 NB40 1.00 I flashd it to BP50NW40 NB50 1.03 NW patched Then I crossflashed it to BP60NB10 1.00 NW patched That is where nothing I do matters. Will the AutoFlasher work on a drive crossflashed up but showing no errors? If so I'll try it!

Ill take any advice you have. Mine is stuck at 60/10 1.02 and wont flash to a lower firmware or recover. No errors mentioned but no drive access and no disc drawer opening either.

I'm in the same boat with the same drive. It worked, flashed it up to 60NB10 successfully. MAKEMKV says it's all good yet the disc tray won't open and MAKEMKV can't access it. I tried reflashing it every way mentioned on this site. Nope.

I do not want to toss a good drive. Help please.
