Re: Burning MKV to Blu-Ray Using Ubuntu 12.04
No, as the name should tell you, MakeMKV is for making MKVs. It is certainly not for restoring backups of blu-ray discs.

Re: How to make the output filesize for a BR smaller
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. There is plenty of evidence that many movies cannot be reencoded significantly smaller without introducing artifacts. But as I said, if you are happy in denial, then you should keep it up. I think your stopping arguing here is a good decision, since th...

Re: How to make the output filesize for a BR smaller
Now let's set everything else aside, and (just for the sake of argument) say you are correct, and that some number of the movies on my media server would, if compared side-by-side with the original media, be noticeably different. Tell me: when could this possibly happen? Without the benefit of a si...

Re: How to make the output filesize for a BR smaller
I guess my description just wasn't clear before. See above -- I don't do this for every film, and I didn't watch the tester films beginning to end looking for flaws in the encode. I watch my movies for entertainment. Out of the hundreds I've watched for entertainment purposes, four caught my attent...

Re: How to make the output filesize for a BR smaller
Says the one who still doesn't get my point about wasting time on encoding, testing (and convincing people in the forums). Apparently, you have lots of it, given how you keep going on about this. He certainly has a lot more time to fiddle with reencoding than I am willing to do. I couldn't believe ...

Re: How to make the output filesize for a BR smaller
Movies that have no dark scenes; no large, fast-moving objects, and no very fine details (like intricate designs or or lots of small print) can usually be encoded to a smaller size without any noticeable loss of quality. But for movies that do have those elements, anyone who watches carefully can te...

Re: Pioneer BDR-206DBK Optical Drive - Anyone else use it?
so in the mean time I bought an LG 14X Blu-ray burner (model WH14NS40) on sale at newegg.com for $59. And was shocked at how much faster it is for reading/ripping than the Pioneer. As I said back in December, my Pioneer was never artificially limited to a 2X rip rate. It varied from disc to disc, a...

Re: MakeMKV Throttles?
I don't think there is a drive that can read dual layer (DL) BD-ROMs at 12X. Note that a drive advertised as 12X generally indicates it can write a single layer (SL) BD-R at 12X. Usually the DL BD-ROM read speed is slower than that. I have an LG WH10LS30 and LG WH12LS38 that can read DL BD-ROMs at 8...

Re: The Hunger Games BD, which chapters to choose
That's weird. When did you download it?
I'm wondering if maybe you got a pre-release version somehow. I guess it is supposed to look like "1.7.7.1" which makes me think that it is a slightly updated version of 1.7.7

Re: The Hunger Games BD, which chapters to choose
Interesting. Note that yours skipped 53 titles because they were "equal to" other titles. Mine only skipped one of those. I'm not sure why the difference. I am running v1.7.7 on Windows. You appear to be running it under MacOS, but I don't know what version of MakeMKV that is.

No, but it would be interesting for you to post a screenshot of MakeMKV showing all the playlists on your Hunger Games disc to see why yours is different than everyone else's.DJRumpy wrote:Would you like to see a copy of the receipt?

Re: The Hunger Games BD, which chapters to choose
What are these multiple titles I see on almost ever BD I rip? They are often fake titles with the segments rearranged so the movie will appear to have the correct overall length but if you were to play it you'd get chunks of it in the wrong order. Sometimes the fake ones will have a slightly longer...
