I tried a complete disc rip instead of makemkv. Works perfectly, except the sound plays only on the left channel.
Anyone know how to rip a bluray iso on a mac? Seems my only solution now.

I can play the video on vlc without the stutter and it has, obviously, no audio since it's LPCM. Playing on my AC Ryan has the audio but the whole movie looks like it's running at a faster speed. Speed up voices and stuttering. I will try and rip the whole disc and see if that works. My only other a...

what movie are you talking about? I'm assuming you mean on blu-ray, cause all DVD subtitles work fine with makemkv.
