Re: Attachment (Cover)
Okay, but "videos" or "pictures" is not one of the view options. Please see screenshot below. Before I start ripping my UHD discs with the attachment (.jpeg) selected, what are the chances of me coming across a UHD disc that does not have an attachment or the artwork is poor/wron...

Attachment (Cover)
Hello, I wanted to see exactly what the attachment (.jpeg) was all about and if it can work in a way that I would want. Please see the screenshot "Attachment" below. If I were to select the attachment (.jpeg) for all my rips, will the cover art be displayed instead of the VLC cone icons in...

Re: Java and makeMKV
I guess even for someone who only intends to rip UHD, Java is still recommended.
Thanks for pointing out that you don't actually need it.

Re: Java and makeMKV
Is this what you are referring to? Below are screenshots of Lionsgate's Midsommar, HD Blu-ray disc. The one "without Java" has the same entry over and over. (However, I just picked the top one and everything came out fine.) The one "with Java" also has the same entry over and ove...

Re: Java and makeMKV
mostly needed for fake play list protection lions gate has that mostly there are very few UHD discs that do this i only know of 2 midway and i forget the other I'm not exactly sure what you mean by fake playlist protection. For discs that have this, are you unable to open them or rip them without J...

Java and makeMKV
It seems like most would recommend installing Java for using makeMKV. Why is installing Java recommended, is it really required? For example, I have been ripping discs for years without Java and never had a problem. I just realized there was such a thing. I am aware of the following link and have re...

Re: Average UHD File Size
Thanks everyone.
Assuming that you did not use any type of compression with 2K HD blu rays, why bother upgrading to 4K UHD blu rays if you are using compression?
I don't mean to offend, I'm just asking.

Average UHD File Size
Hello, Before I start collecting and ripping UHD Blu Ray discs, I need to the know average .mkv file size for the main feature. This way, I know what hard drive I need. Note, I will not be doing any compression with handbrake or other software. I have 57 HD Blu Ray titles and they average out to be ...

Re: LG WH16NS60 Firmware History
Thank you, that is very helpful. I was under the impression these drives were originally released with firmware that worked for UHD. Then, LG changed the firmware for that very reason. For UHD users, out of the DE and MK versions, is one better than the other? Are both the DE and MK just modified LG...

LG WH16NS60 Firmware History
Hello, What is the firmware history for the LG WH16NS60? Currently, LG offers official firmware versions 1.01 and 1.03 for these drives. However, both of these will not work for ripping UHD discs. Will the older firmware versions, (before 1.01) that LG released work for ripping UHD discs? I used Bil...

Re: Full Size Desktop 4K UHD Drive
Is Java only needed for ripping "some" 4K UHD discs and not regular blu ray discs? For example, I have ripped over 80 regular blu ray discs and never came across needing Java. Is needing Java for ripping 4K UHD discs becoming more common? (Meaning, more 4K UHD discs will require Java) Will...

Re: Full Size Desktop 4K UHD Drive
I installed Java and finally the rip was successful. I don't understand, do only some UHD discs require Java? For example, I have been ripping standard blu rays for years and never needed Java.
Thank you,
Thank you,

Re: Full Size Desktop 4K UHD Drive
I should install Java, do you have it installed for ripping discs in makeMKV? I never needed it before. Do I download and install the 64-bit version from here? https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp My drive has a SATA connection. I will try to clean the disc with a microfiber cloth. Thank you,
