Re: Output file name and

changing NAME1 to NAME2 did not help. Still resolutely ripping to title.mkv

Is there something wrong with my file naming template?

Re: Output file name and

This is the Output file name template I've been using: {NAME1}{-:CMNT1}{-:DT}{title:+DFLT}

I'll try changing NAME1 to NAME2, maybe that will help. Or perhaps I have something else wrong with my name template.

Output file name and

I'm using a purchased and registered 1.15.1 (x64 make, x86 GUI). MakeMKV correctly extracts the DVD title and shows it, but 90% of the time fails to use it in the Output File, which then appears as /title.mkv or /titleN.mkv. Rarely, it uses the DVD title. What's up? Am I missing a setting? Should I ...

MKVs vs. Wester Digital Live +

WD_MKV is a program to help users who have Western Digital ® WDTV Live and WDTV Live + players to rip DVDs and Blu-Ray discs to MKV files, especially to deal with bugs in the WDTV Live. The first bug is related to the four “colors” in the subtitles. The WDTV always makes “color 4” transparent, wheth...

Exactly what does "Preferred Language" do?

I'm looking for a little clarification here. I am mostly using MakeMKVCON from code I've written (both in Java and VB) to automate the ripping process, and to use some tools (MKVExtract, bdsup2sub special version for WDTV, and MKVMerge) to get around a couple of annoying bugs (a color mapping bug, a...

Dr Zhivago

I have a fancy edition. It doesn't say much about what version it is, but it is in a sort of booklet. It has the number 2000020535 on the edge. Lots of nice color pages in the middle, and a bonus disk at the back. Here is the deal: I ran MakeMKV (some previous release) on it just fine. Then I fumble...

Foreign movie with director's comments in English

Here is the issue: I ripped "Micmacs", and the rip went fine. Then when I went to play it, I found I had the soundtrack with directors comments in English, and not the original French audio. Too distracting to watch that way. I'd rather have the French audio and read the subtitles in Engli...

Re: "Failed to save..." error when changing output directory

More clues. This problem seems to be exclusively a bug related to running MakeMKV on previously ripped files (Ripped with another program: Magic DVD Ripper). When ripping from the original DVDs, redirection across the network works OK. By the way, when ripping across my network like this, I get a lo...

Re: A different "Save Failed" issue

OK, workarounds are fine. But when evaluating software I like to see some actual attention paid to finding and fixing bugs.

Questions about 'streaming', captions, and such

I currently have a WDTVLive on my network. I rip DVDs (now using MakeMKV, previously I used MagicDVD) to files on my server. I use WDTV's "network connect" and navigate to my files. It worked OK with the MagicDVD rip directories, but somewhat better with .mkv files as output from MakeMKV. ...

A different "Save Failed" issue

Working from a previously ripped set of video files (ripped by MagicDVD). Win 7. Using default drive for output file. This one goes through the whole save process, about 7 or 8 minutes, and then issues a "save failed" error at the end. I've attached the log file.

Re: "Failed to save..." error when changing output directory

OK, here is an example of a ripped DVD that worked OK on default output, but failed when I tried to redirect it to a network drive. It is only a minor inconvenience to be restricted to the C: drive, it just adds another time-consuming filecopy. But it is odd, no? I had a devil of a time when I first...
