Installing MakeMKV and AnyDVDHD on One Computer
So far, I have noticed lately that AnyDVDHD uses elements of MakeMKV to expand AnyDVDHD's drive compatibility. I think it is awesome that two well-known programs are working together, especially for those who strictly plan on making unmodified backups or region-free backups using either Windows file...

Re: Flashing Drives Installed in Vantec NST-540S3-BK
It looks like this will be hit-or-miss. I asked Vantec about this and here's what they explained to me. I thought you might find it helpful. "Hi Chris, Thanks for asking. Sorry, we do not know. Let me explain, in a normal setup, these SATA optical drives installed into a system are connected t...

Breaking News
While I was on Vantec's site, just for the hell of it, I checked out their optical drive enclosures, and I stumbled upon the NST-540S3-BK, an updated version of the NST-536S3-BK, which addresses my preferences to install either my LGs or Pioneer, as well as data transfer speed and power ratings high...

How I Thought Drive Speeds and Data Transfer Rates Are Related
I understand that the Other World Mercury Pro will not fit Pioneer drives. Yet someone on Amazon claimed they used it with a Pioneer BDR-209. I have a Pioneer BDR-212UBK, as well as an LG WH16NS40 and LG WH16NS60. Are there any enclosures which have three 5.25" bays? How do the Other World Com...

Here's how I made my decision.
I just checked the current ratings on my drives. The Pioneer is rated at 2.2 Amps, and the LGs at 2.0, making all my drives more efficient than I thought, even at full potential. I'll be able to get three of the Vantec enclosures, put my drives in them, maintain full potential, save some money, and ...

They Didn't Make It Easy to Decide
I guess the Pioneer BDR-209 isn't too big to be used with the Other World Computing Mercury Pro because when checking out the dimensions of my Pioneer BDR-212UBK, it excedes the maximum dimensions from front to back which will fit in the Mercury Pro, making the Mercury Pro only physically useable wi...

Re: Disassembling an ASUS BW-16D1X-U and Pioneer BDR-X12UBK
When I tried an OWC enclosure back in early 2020, it was kind of expensive. I couldn't even fit my LG in it. Maybe the person helping me assemble it or I was doing something wrong. So I returned it. But $150 for three enclosures would be well worth it. I need something preferably sold by and ships from either Amazon, B&H PhotoVideo, Best Buy, Micro Center, or New Egg which will allow me to swap between my three drives AND flash their firmware.
and it can now flash drives but i wouldn't recommend swapping the drives in and out sata interfaces are not made for that just buy 3

Disassembling ASUS BW-16D1-Xu and Pioneer BDR-X12UBK
In late 2016, I bought an LG BE16NU50. The drive lasted until early 2020. So since then, I bought an LG WH16NS40, LG WH16NS60, and Pioneer BDR-212UBK. Being that I have a laptop, I disassembled the LG BE16NU50 and took its USB/SATA III converter so I could swap between the three new drives depending...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
This is awesome news, and it looks like it's only six days old! Isn't the latest version of MakeMKV from 2021? So how do I add support for my Pioneer drive to it? The main work to support Pioneer drives is done. MakeMKV should work with most Pioneer drives in LibreDrive mode. All drives starting fro...

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT what a rubbish drive
The ASUS and LG drives are manufactured by LG. If you're using ANYDVDHD, Try crossflashing it to the LG WH16NS40 and see if it reads the disc better. Believe it or not, some titles work better with the ASUS BW16D1HT firmware, and other titles work better with the LG WH16NS40 firmware, whether you ha...

Halloween Shout! Factory Collector's Edition UHD Drive Read Observations
I would like to share my observation of what drives, firmware, and software work and don't work with this title. Based on these results, it might be a good idea to either purchase different model drives, or else the more economical solution would be to get comfortable frequently flashing the one dri...
