Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Ha, the total duration doesn't matter as long as it's the same director cut or theatrical cut. When I do hybrid, there's 95% of the time a mismatch length, all normal. Ahh alright. But something like this: if i open Episode 1 - HDR, and Episode 1 - DV, and go to the same frame, the frame (like you ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
the frame rate was the same. I never had to deal with releases with different frame rate yet. Sorry I probably used the wrong words. The framerate of the video's are the same. But the lengths are not. If I inject the RPU into the HDR file, I get the message that the length doesn't match. So my ques...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Alright thanks. Do you think it will be different from creating a BluRay Hybrid? I saw a post from you ~ february 2021, where you showed how you made hybrids with Onward & Soul.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
yes, exactly and in my opinion, DV will be better/more accurate when you use the internal TVs player. Possible, but I keep the Lossless audiotrack, only the Shield uses passthrough for that. If I share my Plex libriary then I external mediaplayer would be neceassary for them, or they just the HD sh...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
it plays fine on shield (or any hdmi device) because they ignore L5 active area... If you play your encode in an LG OLED internal player and if you left the active area untouched (for 2160p), your video will be overcropped. Example: if the UHD video has L5 top/bottom 280/280 and you apply that to a...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hi all, I actually have two questions: 1. Editing Active Area I first started encoding my REMUX's ~ October 2021. I downscale them from 3840x2160 to 1920x1080. I don't use the crop option. I get a 1080p file with DV Layer 08.03. They work fine on my TV using the Shield Pro. Now I was trying to find ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks for your quick reply! So the 08.03 should be fine now? Yes. I use Ripbotx264 for for the encoding. After I use ffmpeg to get the .mkv -> hevc, and extract the RPU (will extract with mode 2 from now on). Then i change the encoded file from .mkv -> hevc and inject the RPU into the encode. Afte...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks for your reply. What do you mean with the reencoding? Wouldn't it be possible to encode the DV 07.06-> change profile to 08 and inject it back? If you're reencoding just use x265 and the RPU directly: https://x265.readthedocs.io/en/master/cli.html#cmdoption-dolby-vision-rpu As for the profil...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks. I can't reproduce the profile 4 issue with MakeMKV. Regardless of if the RPU is added with x265 or injected, it always shows profile 7: Codec: MpegH HEVC Main10@L5.1 (dvhe.07.00 BL+RPU) MKVToolNix (v62) also adds the correct block: Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray c...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm facing a new problem with a movie: Bumblebee (2018). I encoded the movie to 1920x1080p, the movie itself is DV 07.06, so I just extract the RPU (Shield Pro, so it does play). Somehow, when injected into the encode, and afterwards to .mkv and then makemkv, it is DV 04, which it sees as ''SDR''. I...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Try running the muxed mkv through MakeMKV It worked. It now has the following in MediaInfo: Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.03, BL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible Is this the right profile? Sometimes I see 08.06? If I encode 3840x2160 -> 1920x1080 without cropping, will...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I have a question regarding encoding a file to 1920x1080p and add the Dolby Vision later. Somehow, I don't get the right file after RPU insertion. I have encoded a Game of Thrones Episode (4K REMUX, which is Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU). I encoded it without cropping, (which I d...
