That's funny - I see a lot of posts asking how to do the opposite.
Download the mkvmerge GUI toolset. Within there, run the MKVMerge tool and choose File> Header Editor. From there you can edit the individual header elements, and save them without having to re-output the entire file.

For whatever it's worth, I just tested it out on my wife's 2011 version WDTV, and it will play version 1.7.0 MKVs just fine. I'm using the free PS3 Media Server off of a Win 7 system.
I think I WDTV firmware update just came out in the last week or so too.

I can somewhat reproduce this. Serving MKV files from my desktop (Win7, older quad CPU, 8gb RAM) using PS3 Media server to an Oppo 93 over gigabit ethernet. MKV files ripped using MakeMKV take 50-60 seconds to start - mostly the hang is around 25% complete on the Oppo progress indicator. I'm not cur...

Mike - is there any around this? I noticed that there are several threads about it, and I am seeing it too. I want to be able to keep an English subtitle track, but not have it on by default. So far, the only way I've found to do it is to process the file after the fact with either mkvmerge or mkvpr...
