It will if the disc contains DV. A full backup just copies the disc.

You should get a Connected response. If you then type "GET /", you should get an error that you requested plain text from an HTTPS port. If you get anything saying that the name could not be resolved, or the connection closes without a response, or it just times out, that is an indication ...

Check Preferences->General->Enable Internet access. If that is not enabled, you can't download volume keys.

Most likely, the blu ray laser is dead. They seem to die a lot faster than the DVD lasers. I have half a dozen blu ray drives that now only read DVDs.

I went ahead and gave it a shot and can report success. Ripping HDDVD works just fine under 1.17.1 on Linux with an LG GGC-H20L drive with the exception of a couple of what I assume to be rotted discs.

I have been offered a relative's HDDVD collection of about 80 discs. I don't have a drive, so I will need to spend about $50 to get one. Sure enough, I renamed java and it ripped fine. Strange that hasn't happened with any other disc. Thanks!
